I'm entertaining the idea of carrying my CPK Medium Chopper or my SYKCO 1311 Baldric style this year. Anyone else carry Baldric style? If so, who made it? If you have any pics, that would be a plus too! Hopefully there are folks here who get outdoors a lot and carry this way that can help give me an idea of what I want!

Thanks!

Like on your back or at the waist? Looks interesting. If on your back that would be badass but I have no idea how you would get it back in the sheath. I carry a small fixed IWB back left hip opposite my firearm and it has taken plenty of practice to get that blade back in sheath with out cutting the crap out of my self. Can't imagine doing it baldric style on the back.

I'm right handed, so I'm looking for under my left armpit carry. Let me see if I can't dig up an example pic...

Something similar to this, except for my large chopper. No, that's not me! lol It looks like all I need is an adapter to attach to the top eyelets of the kydex sheath, some rings and a shoulder strap.

I see now. Looks interesting. Would you strap it to your leg as well? I'll be interested to see what you come up with.

No, it would be more like for carrying when away from basecamp, or exploring offtrail once we have camp setup. I used to carry a GI canteen like this and it was quite comfortable for long distances. I'd imagine carrying a large chopper this way is too, better than on your belt pulling your pants down!

I'm imagining doing that with my Junglas (similar in size to the LC) and it seems to me without anchoring the bottom of the sheath to something it would be swinging all over the place while exploring (we do a lot of hiking on the APT which involves scrambling over lots of rock). Again, I'll be interested to see what you come up with.

I think I've found a kydex adapter. I'll have to read through some reviews and actually carry it myself to actually gauge an opinion on it. Was hoping some leathermakers here would chime in with "hey, I can make one of those baldric adapters for you"!

Dang that's a lot of tack for such a small knife?

I know right? I'll be carrying my 1311 or MC this way. I can see how craytab said it would swing and get in the way of rock scrambling, but I'll mostly be on the trails. If I do have to scramble rocks, or climb hills, I'll probably just carry it in my hand until the obstacle has been overcome. Then I'll just let it dangle. It would probably hang about 7 or 8 o'clock on my waist, under my left armpit as my revolver gets carried at 4 o'clock on my waistband.

If you have a kydex sheath with retention system, carrying on the back at 5 o’clock will be out of your way and easy to reach! Even with leather an adapter could be found on old luggage or travel bags. It would be hard to reach and in the way if carried as pictured for sure. This might not be what you were asking.

but when I carry my1311 I feel invincible!

I'll tell you what. Just messing around on google gives lots of options. I'm going to have to look into some of these. Productivity is going down this afternoon.

I always carry my blades in an outside pocket of my pack. When I get to base camp is when I'll throw on my belt knife, or baldric rig if I can get one to work comfortably. I may just be able to jimmy-rig one up.

You might try talking to Ben at BRT Knives. He's been working on various carry styles that are along the lines of this discussion.

He has some threads and videos about it. He might modify something for you if it was close to his own harness.

This is great! I'll check it out. I don't mind being a nylon strap setup either. Leather or nylon, matters not to me, as long as it carries comfortably.
