Balisong Online?

Chuck;

The easiest way to be able to work two balisongs and exchange hands while manipulating them is to just pass them off to the opposite hand while closed, kind of like a juggling move. Rather easy to accomplish with little practice. Now doing it behind the back took a little longer, but was still accomplished relatively easy. As for the "throws" on the balisongxtreme site, man do I need to practice up some. Damn cool tricks!

Back before I was married,(she didn't care for knives then, collects them herself now), I had managed to master being able to manipulate three knives at one time, two in the left hand, one in the right. For some reason could never get the right hand to work two properly. Mind you, you couldn't work them as fast as a single, but was still a cool trick to do.

Clay;

The balsiongxtreme site is an understatement. That site is beyond extreme! And you say you first created it to hone your web authouring skills. Well it would appear that you are as capable a web designer as you are a balisong manipulator. Rest assured I will be visiting often. Keep up the good work.

Jonathan,
Thanx for the encouraging words on the site. Glad you like it!

I too have been playing with the "two Bali's in one hand" thing lately. It's a pretty intimidating sight, One in forward grip, one in Backhand. I execute a throw over (knife open, from the opposite hand)into the position. Catching one Bali when one is already there, is quite a fun thing to play with. I hope to post the techniques on the page as soon as MY computer comes out of the repair shop. I have a few more interesting throws for ya' as well.

Here's a cool double Bali pass to try. Start with a Bali open in each hand. The right hand is going to execute a "motion throw pass" (see my advanced page)to the left. At the point of release, the left hand throws it's Bali straight across and under the flight path, into the right hand. Leaving you just enough time to catch with the left.... a very nice move, once you get the "feel" for it. Oh yeah, don't forget to play with it in both directions......later!

Whooo Hoooo..... I just noticed my site is included in the links section, under "training"..... AND it has the cool sunglasses next to it.

Hey Chuck.

Rough-looking neighborhoods? Nahh.. they are quite harmless.. I think!
smile.gif

As to my racing antics, I'm maintaining a website here for the organizers, but have stopped doing so (as a sign of protest) because we were cheated out of a hard-earned win and our protests went unheeded bec. they were protecting one contestant who's vying for top honors. Ugh.. bummer! anyway, the website url is http://come.to/slaloms
It's not updated anymore, so the limited pics you see there are just that. Oh, my car has its own gallery (gallery 3) hehehehe...

And Chuck, it's my daily car that's broken.. Well, not actually broken, I'm having it repainted and restored.
smile.gif
Once it's fixed, I'll be able to scoot around Batangas, and have fun.. hehehe..

Mike, if you're planning on importing from Batangas, or want to get in touch with your former supplier, but couldn't (God rest his soul) we can search for his relatives or something, if he makes good knives. There are a lot (and I mean a LOT) of balisong makers there, but like a friend of mine told me, the good ones are almost always hidden.

Once I go there, my first priority is to get myself one of those rare handcrafted balisongs made by the owner himself. I'm going to be sending it to Brazil, to a new-found friend of mine.

I hope I can find a good one, or maybe give my hand a try in making one, using their resources of course..lol...

Dan

BTW, I've read somewhere (can't remember where, though) that there was/is (??) a US Law that prohibits importation of balisong knives, particularly from the Philippines? Was the ban lifted? or is it still in effect?

Dan

Hey, we've got two good webmasters here in this thread.

Well, I'm not going to have much time to comment tonight since I'm dead tired (Kali class was rather a workout tonight). But, I want to look at Clay's new stuff too. I've had the first Gin and Tonic for the evening and I'm starting to feel better... the tide is going out in the second as we speak.

I did get the camera myself and I've been playing around with it. I've got some fairly nice .avi's of myself. Someday, I'll point you to my website, but it's woefully dated right now. Besides, the picture of me is of me trying to look very professional, tie on, such that chest in, etc. I have to take a more menacing looking picture if I'm gonna be a switchblade artist. There's nice stuff about some of my other hobbies including my moonshining days. But I want to put up these .avi's and start trading butterfly tricks with y'all.

BTW, Mike tells me that customs has changed their rules and it is now legal to import Bali Songs. He does.

Well, gentlemen, here's gin in your eye...

Chuck

Going up.

Seriously, I hate it when people reply just to keep a thread on top of the list, but I'm expecting another new friend to join us shortly and I want it to be easy for him to see the thread.

Chuck

I wonder if you are talking about me ?

Anyway, I've found the thread thanks to you.
Also, thanks for the E-mail.
I had all the links already.
But I didn't know about this thread.

I'm still looking for a good quality BS knife. (Isn't every one?) I too would buy the knives if any one bothers to import them.

BTW, is it really true that the ban on the import has been lifted ? IF that is the case, maybe I can import them in. I'm currently looking for business opportunities, and maybe this is it !!

Well talk to you later.

Welcome aboard, SJD. Just call me the bladeforums evangelist. I guess I collect butterfly enthusiasts with the same energy that I collect butterfly knives, or so it seems lately. Well, I'm quite glad for it. I kind of thought I was alone in the world, there for a while.

We've had a few other good butterfly threads recently. A bit of time in the archives will prove interresting, I'm sure.

Mike, our gracious innkeeper here, imports a line. He assures me that he does it totally openly and legally. He assures me that customs regulations no longer consider butterflies a form of switchblade, so it is now legal to import them. Mike also offers a life-time warranty on his. I've been waiting for Clay to get ahold of a few and see how many days they last with him.

So, we have Mr. Palacio who is offering some fine looking knives. He's looking for a dealer or two. Who's going to set up to the plate?

Danny has also indicated that when he gets his car fixed he's gonna go shopping. Once he gets himself past the tourist stuff in the front, he may offer us some interresting opportunities too.

Have you seen what's going on over on bladeauction? One of my faithful sources sent me an e-mail saying there was a couple of Benchmade's over there. Unfortunately, my ISP lost both of its OC48s that morning and we were down to just the backup T1 for everyone, so I didn't want to tie up bandwidth looking at an auction that would still be there that evening by which time the OC48s would doubtlessly be restored. By the time I got there, both knives, both Benchmade Economy Line models, the ones you could have bought new a couple of years ago for about $40, are well over $100. It's insane.

Chuck

Chuck,

One of these days, I really have to sit down and think if I should get myself a BM Balisong, just for kicks. I want to see the fit and finish of American-made balisongs as opposed to the unpredictable quality of Filipino-made ones. Once I go shopping around for these "Pinoy" made balisongs, I'll really have to sit down and choose from a whole bunch, just to get the best of the lot. It's too bad that QC is almost non-existent with the manufacturers, as I could imagine the huge benefit it would give them if quality is much better than what it is today.

Dan

Just an observation, but if this thread continues to grow at the rate that it is, we might need to talk Mike into putting up a Balisong Forum

Being a collector and user of several myself, it would be a very welcome addition to an already incredible site.

This is a great idea!!

Mr Turber! please, if it´s possilble why not have a bali-song forum ??
Just great to have a dedicated forum for our beloved "click-clack" knives.

Think about it, please!

Be well, Jonaa aka 2Sharp

I will think about it. But then we will need a folder forum, fixed blade forum, sword forum, old crusty uncle henry forum.....

Ok, guess you´re right about that Mr.Turber.
But you know, bali-song knives are soooo special, they deserve a dedicated forum...

Oh yeah......I'd have to second that emotion. The Balisong forum.....I like the sound of it!

Boy, I don't know if we actually generate enough stuff to warrant a forum of our own. That's a big step.

I am pleased with the growing number of Bali Song artists starting to show up here.

Part of the allure of these special knives is there outlaw image. A forum would sort of legitimize them

I am working right now to get a web site up with some .avi's of a few moves I've developed. It's not gonna be anything like Clay's Extreme site.

But, the lately, I've either been busier than the proverbial one-armed-paper hanger, or just dog tired. But, there's light at the end of my tunnel and a drawing package rolling of my printer as we speak that should put one client to bed for a while. So, I should be back with you.
