I can drill up to 2 inch's after that it's a boring bar, this thing the way it is can be swung like a bat or choked up on and use like a hammer.Who would suspect a walking cane for a war club though especially when you've got the bussiness end concealed in you hand![]()
That's a nice one i would assume the ball is threaded and or epoxied on the caneI have something similar I got at an antique fair in the '70's. No idea how the brass is attached.

For peaceful purposes only, of course.
Now you've got me wanting to cast a ball of Brass and Copper :thumbup:Thanks. I expect you're right about threading and some kind of glue. No sign of pins.
I've wondered if a fox wedge might be involved, but it sticks on just fine and this is one mystery object I haven't destroyed to see how it works.
Just have to drill slowly and keep plenty of Bacon grease on the bit.I use a skroll chuck on a latheSo if those bearings were already hardened. How hard was it to drill those holes through? And how did you centre the hole?
Also, very nice job.

WolfOne of these cast out of copper or bronze would be awesome, especially if it had a tapered eye.

Your right about that, ain't nuthin cheap anymoreAlright thanks a bunch.I'm assuming you got these second hand as well. Because a brand new ball bearing of that size would not come cheap.
