just a out of random curiousity...what knife is the best pound for pound bang for your buck? answers must be based on the following...has to be a folder, blade length under 4" and must be under $150.......

You can find Buck Mayo TNTs (172) for under 150 bucks, and I can easily say that they are the best knives for that price. I have had many, many knives pass through my hands and the Buck TNT is easily the best, fit and finish (about to get a sebenza because of the TNT, I love perfect fit and finish). Also, the heat treat is done by the best man in the business, Paul Bos.... Mayo cutsoms, which go for $700+ also get's his blades heat treated by Paul Bos. It is one hell of a deal!

I have been impressed lately by the buck vantage with paper stone handles I got from walmart for under $30 bucks, Made in the USA, fit is great, has a good low ride pocket clip, and good lock up. The blade isn't polished very well, but as a user, its great.

Another that impressed me was the cold steel pocket bushman. It's 1/2" bigger than you want, but it was around $20, holds an edge well, the lock is incredible, and it is stupid simple.

My "normal" go to knives are Kershaws. Pretty much anything you buy from them in that price range that is made in the US by them is going to be a great knife. I am partial to the composite blade models.

Gotta be the Spyderco ParaMilitary 2; just barely over the $100 mark, and a lot of features in an awesome package.

If your looking at "bang for your buck" 150 dollars ain't the place to start...that's the nice end of the pool from great companies like Spyderco, Benchmade and Buck custom shop.

Bang for your buck imo would be the Boker Ak101, Cold Steel Recon 1's or American Lawman, Kershaw Blur...

They all do the job, with less good looks.

Spyderco Military is good, and the benchmade dejavoo is as well. I also really like the new Cold Steel triad locking knives. I have one oh each of the larger ones and they are great for less than $60 each.

Spyderco Gayle Bradley.

Carbon Fiber handles, CPM M4 Supersteel, beefy stainless steel liner lock, great ergos.

If there's any downside at all with the knife, it's that the blade steel is vulnerable to corrosion.

Opinel knife, rough rider or a sanrenmu knife (all around $10 and good quality) - you get a knife 98% as good at it's job as a $100+ knife

Gotta be Buck Vantage Pro. The profile of the blade increases cutting performance, and the steel is S30V heat treated by Paul Bos. All that for around $50.

Sage1 and 2, Caly3 carbon fiber from my experience.
It also appears from what I've read that the Spyderco Gayle Bradley also qualifies.

I agree with Zeke. I've never spent that much money on a single knife.

I'm pretty happy with a Spyderco Native or a Benchmade mini-Griptilian. Either can be had for less than $60.

Add: Buck Vantage Pro is in that price range also and is a great deal.

Kershaw JYD CB or any kershaw with a cb blade, super steel at budget prices....

I am going to have to get one of those Bucks, I've read nothing but great stuff about them.

+1

To me, 150 bucks is still a lot of money to spend on a knife. To get a good 'bang for the buck', many options around 50-80$ will suit your needs just fine.

i guess 150 was generous, ive never spent that much on a knife myself, i own an endura 4 and a lawman, both under 65 bucks, i enjoy both very much
