bang for your buck

Sak, zt 350, or a cold steel recon/lawman/ak47. I think obviously for versatility and use a Sak is gonna win a dollar v. Usefullness debate. The best folder I know of in that price range is the zt 350. It is an absolute tank. All of the zt knives are as good as it get in that department till you get a STRIDER IMO. As far as a 100 knife goes I dont think it gets any better. The cold steel folders are all around $50-$60, and they beat a lot of knives in quality twice their price IMO. Great knives

Maybe we've been misreading the original title - and it was really 'Bang with your Buck'?

In all seriousness, I found my new Buck 172 Mayo TNT for <$150 - barely - and it is a hard act to follow. The S&W PC627 UDR goes 'bang' eight times between feedings.

Happy New Year!

as much as i like some of my more expensive knives, and by this i mean anything above $100. i have to say that there not what i consider big bang for your buck values. and really $50 should get you a knife that will last you a lifetime. $100 or more, your splurging. then you start paying for the more exotic steels, frame and liner materials etc, etc. not necessarily bang, maybe bling. At the high end of what i consider bang for your buck territory i like the Spyderco native s30v. mine was $62 to my door. at the lower end id look to the (<$30)Tenacious/persistance and ontario rat 1. in between you could look to the likes of the kershaw leek and blur($40~$50) and spyderco endura and delica`s($50) this is what id tell non knife people to look at who had finallly decided to get something outside of their comfort zone in buying a better folder than say a coast or some other cheap store brand that they may of carried in the past. people who do think $50 is allot for a knife and $100 or more is ridiculous. I dont feel that way now. but then again ive got the disease. Wasnt too awful long ago that i was in the catagory that $50 was the upper limit to what i thought a good knife should cost. and i still think that this is a good place to start. you start recommending $150 knives to newbies and you chase them out of the hobby before it has a chance to take hold, lol.

I can't seem to stop saying the Ontario RAT 1 folder for under $30 has to be one of the best knives for the money going today. Mine was flawless OOTB. Action, F&F, grind, edge. All fantastic plus AUS 8 blade steel.

Leave it to an Alabamian. :D:thumbup:

I buy knives in the $200 and up range with far to much regularity, but for the most part, they aren't exactly users. @130 bucks, the Gayle Bradley is what I'm leaving Sebs and customs home for. I had to get a pre-need replacement, which I almost never do with NIB knives. This is one solid knife with terrific steel. The CF, F&F, and smooth action on these things is phenomenal in this price range.

I totally agree. Within minutes of unboxing my first gayle Bradley I already had another "pre need replacement" ordered.

Agree with Zombie here, the Boker AK101 is a Lot Of Knife for the price. But note the blade, I believe, is just over 4", but the cutting edge is under.

Will also agree with the Endura, $150 is a lot of coin for me.

The best bang I ever got was when Smokey Mountain Knifeworks sold out of their CRKT S2 folders (large) for $25 apiece! I ordered seven of them at that price and got FREE SHIPPING thrown in as well!

Often called "the poor man's Sebenza," the S2 has a 6AL4V titanium frame, a 4-inch ATS-34 blade and a frame lock that is at least as strong as a Sebenza and many other knives.

It feels great in the hand and was one of the best deals I ever got. Having used one for several years now, I can say it's one of the best knives I've seen for under $150. All it needs is some changes in washers and it's a real gem.

The other knife (one that's still available) is Cabela's Buck 110 Alaskan. It's a heavy slow-opening knife, but it has a beautifully finished S30V blade and a rugged wood handle with brass bolsters. And it's what...$70? It's tough to beat that for an oudoor knife, and the heat treat is outstanding.

Benchmade 940. Nice size blade. Super light and thin. Lots of colors. Good steels either s30 or 154. One of my most carried knives.

I think he would have bought what he was going to get, this thread is months old guys.
