Bark River Bravo 1

Thanks---I think I'll pass on the Bravo then.

Have a couple Bark Rivers with the convex grind that are a PITA to sharpen----and a Clip Point Skinner with a normal grind that I can get super sharp.

I know mouse pad and sand paper---but I've never got that to work----give me something I can sharpen on the Sharpmaker.

Well, you could take the Bravo-1 and, when it's ready for sharpening, use the SHarpmaker. That would work just fine. In fact, I think a convex grind is more suited than others at sharpening on a stone. Just put a white fine stone in the end slot (where it sticks out almost horizontally), lift the edge *ever-so-slightly* and take a few very light passes. You could even strop it on the white stones - there is no hard and fast rule to using a mouse pad and sandpaper. Since emBarking on my passion for Bark Rivers, I've tried a few unorthodox(?) things like using the white stone. No matter what I do, I end up with very sharp knives.

:D I have a Bravo-1 inbound as we speak coupled with a PSK both Green Micarta handle black leather sheath coupled together with hardware upon arrival, I also have Northstar coupled with a Mikro canadain.,excellent knives...

I really like the Bravo-1. Though, I find the blade a little thick for my tastes.

That's the only downside I have about the bravo is how thick the blade is. Not that that is a bad thing in all situations. Just for me a thinner blade is more useful.

TTD: glad you ended up with one after all. I though it looked like you were going to be covered, and apparently it worked out.

The Bravo-1 is fantastic--mine is in green canvas micarta, with matching Mikro-Canadian and Firesteel.:thumbup:
