nice score... the fox river is an awesome knife... i am also a barkie nut... i have 5 or 6 i think....

BRK&T? Bought 1 now Im up to 8 with 2 on pre order.

Fox River is on my 'NOT TO' short list.

That's on the wish list, for sure! I think that's always been one of my favorite bark river models. I'd love to see 'in use' pics if you ever get the chance.

I'm right there with you man..I think I'm up to about 8 this year! They are to cool..and the different handle scheme..boy does that suck your money out of your wallet or what?! Gene

Not since the T/C Contender have I been involved in such a money pit.
:p

LOL

Mike is not only a great knife maker but he is also quite a salesman. I love the way he makes sure there is a ready market for most of the new models he produces. In fact many are sold before the steel is even cut out. Where else can you get the variety of handle materials on a factory knife.
The fact that Mike is almost always reachable on the internet over at the "other" knife forum is a giant plus. If you have any trouble at all he is there for you to talk to or bounce ideas off of or just plain gripe at.

this is a good thread can anyone tell me why its so hard to find a Bravo-1,Highland,mikro slither with tigerstripe...?

They go fast my friend. If you see one you want and do not buy it.

FORGET IT at least until the enxt production run..........if there is one.

Bark River makes knives in runs or batches. This makes the availability of a given model irregular. Try a Google search "Bark River" + model name. Also watch the sale forums here and elsewhere.

OK! I see we are in between production runs, well jeezzz I quess I'll focus on Busse.

That's my second online home haven't been able to log on lately for some reason . MIKE 217

I'm a fan of Bark River knives also; I have bought several, for myself and gifts.

One thing that's caught me off guard recently, and kind of put a damper on my enthusiasm for Bar River, is the prices. Is it just me, or have they gone ~way~ up over the past six months or year? For example, as I recall, AG Russell was selling the Mountaineer in Amboynia Burl for $114. I paid $80 for my Forager in bone-stag, and $120 for a Tanto in Amboynia Burl.

Now the discounted retail price for a "kitchen utility" with natural handles is $172 - $217!

Another spirit dampener, and again it could be my imagination, but I seem to be seeing fewer and fewer for sale in natural materials.

More power to Mike and the guys if they can get those prices for their products, but for me to pay $200 for a knife, it'll more likely be from one of the custom makers here at BladeForums.

Best Wishes,
-Bob

Just in case this is not subtle humor I'll point out that Busse also produces in runs of a single model. Good luck. This ain't Coke. :D

I do think BRKT knives have gone up...I think it is largely a product of inflation of material costs and increased quality. IMO they are still very reasonably priced for the quality of knife.

They are addictive, however. ;)

I'm up to 5 this year and working on 6 !!!

Barkies I MUST have, in order of preference:
-Northstar (probably Maroon linen or Bamboo)
-mini-Northstar (probably red linen or black carbon fiber)
-Mikro-Canadian
-mini-Canadian (another one: this time for Dad :D )
-Aurora (probably in green canvas)
-Montana Guide or mini-Montana (in whatever scale I can afford)

A money pit indeed.

Sounds like you've been bitten by the bark river bug as bad as me. Believe me it can get worse when you start piggy backing the mikro canadian's on a Bravo-1 and gameskeeper or black water boot knife on a fox river :D:D

Let me tell you the Bark River Mania has spread over here to the EU:thumbup:

I'm very impressed with, style, range and handle materials and the blade is KEEN!

If you fancy one particular model, best snap it up as soon as you can because they don't loiter around. But you can try contacting Mike Stewart with ideas, I actually complained I couldn't get a Colonial Patch knife and his response was to launch a run of handles in days:D

In six months I've got Micro Slither, Blackwater Bootknife in antique ivory(really nice small knife) Nebula in Antique Ivory, Nebula in Green linen,Classic lite Hunter in maple burl, Colonial Patch in Bocote, Woodland in Green linen(another very useful model). Not so keen on the sheathes though...

I find myself having to curb the spending as a whole load of bills are looming in the next month. But I keep dreaming of a Golok and one day maybe they will make a traditional lockback in stainless with the usual dozen scales options. Quality knives these and you get pride of ownership from them, very much in fact.

StretchNM,

IMHO get them all in Maroon linen it is amazingly beautiful.

I think I'm getting hooked on them too....

Bought a Gameskeeper with dark burly maple 3 months ago. Now I have a Gameskeeper in midnite tiger and a Clip point skinner in midnite tiger.
And..........4 others in the mail. (2x Gameskeeper, Copperhead, Mini skinner)
Did I tell you I like the Gameskeeper?

Thanks,
CZ

I do agree that they are addicting...I didn't realize how many I owned until I started counting:

Evolution-1
Northstar, Orginial
Fox River
Micro Slither
Bravo-1 (green micarta)
Nebula (bocata)
Aurora (orange G10)
Northstar, 2007 (red linen micarta)
Oregon Trail prototype (in 1095)
Lil Nessy (dark curly maple)

I missed the first go-round on the Golok, so I placed my name for an order when the new batch comes out. All are excellent performing knives and I really like selection of handle material...plus, you just can't beat that convex grind!
