Bark River fixed blades

I have many knives from Bark River and in all sizes.
The smallest is the tiny PSK and the largest is the Golok'
My favorite BR is the Scandi in Moonglow Pinecone.
I made my own danglersheath for this knife, but the original also works well for a highride position.

I was pleasantly surprised by this knife and it's a joy to use it!

Yup, seeing it in the lighting on the second photo shows how impressive it really is. Fantastic Idea.

My new Bravo Necker 2. Seems to be very well made.

I have one of those in black/gray G10. BRKT does a really nice job with 3V. Like Rev, I'm not fond of the kydex sheath, but the knife is top notch. I've had about 2 dozen BRKT's off and on now and I've had one issue that I caused by dropping the knife, and one wooden handle scale that separated slightly from the tang. BRKT took care of both issues at their expense. Never had a QC issue with a blade or an edge on a BRKT.

I've seen some troubling reports about their grinds chipping and deforming, but they seem to have decent customer service--so long as they don't contend you were misusing the knife somehow. I believe I saw one where a guy was trying to chop coconuts and they called that abuse? Yeah, so questionable... But most people seem happy with the knives.

Where they lose my interest is their ownership. I read a few posts on his forum... Well it's not really HIS forum but he basically runs the place. Has the same amount of personality and is about as likable as an old stump.

Mikael, that is one of the coolest knife handles I've seen on a BRKT yet.

Yeah, and I'm impressed too!
It's nice to experience the creativity from the Bark River workshop.

I asked Mike Stewart about it and he said acrylic pinecone sees a growing popularity among the customers.
He sure enjoys the positive responses on this material.

You really have to try one. Photos dont work. I have had several. When they arrive they where all smaller than they appeared in picture, especially the grip area. There settler model is the best i have. Mini northstar is good but i had to grind out about 3/8" of edge so i wouldnt cut my pointer finger while holding the knife.

I'll also say the kydex sheath is questionable. The guy I bought mine from also included a kydex sheath he made that is much better and smaller.

Bravo 1 in spalted golden elder burl. I know it's mostly due to the convex grind but every time I fillet a piece of copy paper I find myself smiling and listening to the folks watching me oohing and aahing. Love this blade.

Dale, are those custom sheaths? It looks like a double duty pocket sheath?

They're all from Sharpshooter Leather Works. They're sold by Knives Ship Free, DLT Trading Co., and The Knife Connection... probably other dealers, too. They have a knife pocket and a pocket for a small folder or a flashlight. That's what I carry with my small FBs.

I also have a pocket sheath that just has one center pocket for a knife only. It came from DLT and is by Dakota Leather.

I just got a NOS Socom 7 in 1095, and a NOS Blackjack Trailguide in A2. Both are beautiful knives. The trailguide is the sharpest knife I've ever held. Convex grind is sweet. Most Barkies come with a good leather sheath which is rare these days. Bark river is supposed to have spectacular heat treat on A2.

It was a novelty for me too, when it was up for grabs on the KSF site.
A search on the Acrylic stabilized Pinecone material, revealed use also among penturner's.
It was also recommended to seal the surface with CA glue.

I followed the recommendation and did a CA coating + polished the handle.
It's a messy procedure, but done right it will give a durable and highgloss finish.

Regardsless of the Pinecone handle, I have found the Scandi to be a userfriendly design as a woodcutting tool.
I use it both at work and at home, when building things in wood.
The handle-ergonomics makes it easy to find a relaxed grip in various positions.

I have also thinned the cutting edge of the CPM 3V blade and it now cuts just like a Carpenter wants it to do.

Bark River makes great knives. Stewart has a great thing going with self advertising on the knife forums. He has a way of filling a demand void, expanding it, and stretching the price point to where you might be a tad uncomfortable, but still okay with it. I applaud him for his knife marketing. I have Bark River knives on my want list, but just haven't bitten yet. My next one will likely be the new Blackjack 124 (sub 125 size). Added: Just ordered it.
