Bark River H&C Knife.

Focus on the knife guys. Keep this thread and your comments in line. Remember, you're getting hot and heavy over a piece of steel. Settle down.

It is a good looking knife.

Some of the best features of several Bark River models (Aurora and Bravo-1). :)

PS – The one shown is headed to Kev,
…I’m sure he’ll share his opinion on this knife when he gets it. ;)

I appologize Tracker. I really didnt understand your point. No hard feelings.

I guess I had one of those moments........

I for one appreciate the info on the knife. I fact I just ordered one. Did I join to order the knife? No. I had already signed up some time ago. I don't remember why.

Anyone who has ever seen the other forum knows that Blade Forums in general and WSS in particular is so much better. The other one has flashing ads and flying banners everywhere. Every click of the mouse loads a whole new set of ads. That is their business model but I find it hard to look at. That is why I pay to support this forum and hope that more "registered users" and lurkers kick in a few bucks too.

That is a really cool little knife. I wish it were offered as a regular run. You've gotta love those Barkies. I frequent that "other place" quite a bit- and the BRKT forum is the best part. I wish they had more of a presence here.

That little H&C knife looks to be about perfect. I may have to pick one up. I've been wanting an Aurora, but I already have a ton of knives in that size range. Although, to be fair, the blade on this is only .30" shorter.

Because the designers of that knife are from that forum........Remember Kev was a mod at the other forum before he was a mod here. Besides, what is the big deal, you are in the know. Thanks to Mike....

The CT gathering was not an exclusive WSS event, there were 3 or 4 forums represented there.

Then I stand corrected Tony, thanks for filling me in on the above. I was under the impression that a BF WSS Gathering was just that, a members get together, not a multi forum gig:confused: So that's why I stated what I said in my previous 2 posts.

And yes, thanks to Mike for sharing with us here that this knife is still available to order. Now if one does not choose to become a member at the other site is this knife available for purchase?

Aurora Specs:

Overall Length: 9.5 Inches
Blade Length: 4.5 Inches
Blade Steel: A-2 @ 58rc
Blade Thickness: .170 Inch
Weight:6 Ounces

H&C Specs:

Overall Length: 8.6 Inches
Blade Length: 3.95 Inches
Blade Steel: A-2 @ 58rc
Blade Thickness: .140 Inch
Weight: 4.75 Ounces

Just for the record, based in the posted specs the blade length on the H&C knife is 0.55” shorter then the Aurora (and about 20% thinner).

As you can see HornyToad I 'pay to play' here too because I prefer to spend time here as the only knife forum I have time to visit. I also encourage folks to become a member here to support the Forum and the work of everyone behind the scenes.

MoonWilson, yes, I am curious why BRKT does'nt have a prescence here too? I may have been out of the loop on why in the past, so I am not trying to dredge the waters. it just seems so odd with so many Barkie owners here?

And Kevin, if we can't get 'hot and heavy' over a knife/steel, then is life trully worth living?! I'm trying to be civil and post my opinion. Maybe you can get us a similiar version for WSS Kevin? can't hurt to ask....

And BigMike the H&C feels more lively in the hand than does the Aurora, at least it did to me. By lively I mean to take into consideration overall knife balance, and weight differences. I appreciate the specs, just wished I did not have to join another Forum to obtain one is all.

No membership is required to buy the knife.

Does bark river do custom handle thicknesses? Or would you have to order the knife and send it off to have it done?

This small run is being done my hand and by order only, so imagine it would possible.

They will also do custom handle materials not listed in the offer by request.

Contact Mike Stewart to find out, …he is very accessible.

It does not cost to join. You will not be cheating on Blade Forums if you do (at least I don't feel so). As I said Blade Forums is a much better experience than Kn*** Forums. Spark depends on the generousity of participants and knife makers to survive and I intend to do my part.

Kev designed the WSS knife for sale here. He just designed a different knife there. I don't think he is showing favoritism. I just prefer the knife there, to the one here.

Knife design is always a trade off, both knives have there use.

I wish I could afford them all.

Amen to that Mike, I wish I could afford them all to:D I have an early proto of this knife, and I much prefer it to the Aurora...it is a fine knife. I think mine is thicker though..as a proto, its the same thickness as my Aurora.

Hey Gene, you back on line, now?

I asked Mike Stewart about that and he said that it was all he could do to keep up with the forums he is on.

And on this note, I should apologize to everyone for jumping rank. I was just throwing out an idea that was not appropriate. Kev can make it work. :)

I just didn't think about proper channels. I was just trying to be helpful...
