Bark River knives?

I already did, so I'll pass on your advice. Don't like the truth? Bummer.

Lol full of winners. Yep I'm jared, headquartered in mainland china.

I should have my new bravo lt in cruwear tomorrow. T n
Ok. So you don't care mike stewart is a lying, scamming, thief. He is still actively screwing people over on this forum, but hey he replaced a crappy knife he sold with 2!

I recommend a qtrmstr knife for your folding knife needs.[/QUOTE
You sound mad.
How many companies have a lifetime no questions asked warranty? That pretty much covers everything I've already said I'm not defending mike Stewart and I'm not going to talk down on him either I don't know him I've never met him. I have chatted with him briefly online and he did come off as a nice person who genuinely cared about his company and his customers but hey we can all be anybody online right? We can just as easily start all kind of shit about someone or a company online too. Believe half of what you see and nothing you hear. Until I get screwed over by bark river i will continue buying and enjoying their knives. Which makes me wonder... have you ever used a bark river knife? You should. You would probably love it!

I love my Gunny, it is the perfect fixed blade. I have the 3V but would buy A2 if I hadn't had the money.

What was said is true, it's hard to own just one, especially once you get that first one in your hand and see it for yourself.

I just want to just mention to the newer guys here that what you might think is just "drama" runs deeper. Do I like the BRK I have, yes I do. But bear in mind that no matter what you think about the end product, Mike had the chance, (many in fact) to gain some credibility and either didn't take it, or burned it. Yes some of the things that have happened, and the reactions have not been totally fair (more in regards to timeframes and communication than anything else) but it runs deeper. I don't know all of the history, search it up yourself, suffice to say he's no saint. None of us are, but these marks are hard to overlook. How you spend your money is your business. Lets be honest most of us don't need to ever buy another knife, so our tastes and our culling of the wishlists can take many forms. There is collateral in this, real people, his employees, retailers and customers, lets not forget that we are dealing with a maker who is big enough to seem "corporate" but is still small enough that things get taken personally in ways that maybe they aren't with some other companies (contrast to a company like spyderco, they certainly dwarf BRK in production, but Sal deals with things on this and other forums personally) Different personalities. But real people.
So when I was making my last purchase, I bought an LT Wright instead of a BRKT. Why, because I could. Doesn't make me better, or worse, or a bandwagoneer. Why mention it then, because at some level, the things Shineyedges has refered to have played a small factor in my decision making process, and so I looked elsewhere and I found what I was looking for.

I don't know who's right or wrong, at the end of the day if you like the knife, buy it. If we all refused to purchase anything from any company who'd ever done anything shady, we'd all be knapping our knives and weaving our clothes. So in the words of the late great Doc Holliday, "It appears my hipocracy knows no bounds." Own it an move on. Just know that there is context.

Right on gadgetgeek. The argument of "separate the maker from the knife" is a common one, many people say this when they like the knife more than they care about the scummy things the owner does. For me separating the 2 is not possible.

Good on you for even taking the truth into consideration, it shows character and even had you picked up a brkt, you're good in my book for not being a mindless, moral void individual.

Ha- but for everyone else....

Least we know what you think I guess.

So I'm guessing that every time there is a Barkriver themed thread there will be this constant rhetoric. I'm new here so I just wasn't aware of this. I can already tell it's gonna get stale ,fast. Probably the same couple of guys too . Any other companies that I should be aware of so that I don't get criticism for liking their product ?

On any enthusiast forum you're going to get this kind of stuff if that bothers you then you probably ought not hang out on enthusiast boards.

Things made in small batches by people for a small community put there name behind what they are selling, you're not buying a Bark River knife you're buying Mike Stewart same with Strider.

If Bark River gives you a pants tent then get one some might complain but you'll still have your pants tent.

I totally get it now. Just not looking forward to hearing this stuff over and over . Obviously I like my barkrivers but now I have to look into their business practices.

No one is happy about this sort of thing. To those who care, it becomes a matter of principle. To have a thriving community, one must not support those who would weaken it. This explains the reaction to cloners, counterfeiters, mislabelled steel, misleading credentials, etc.

I understand that some just want to buy a knife and not worry about the health of the community. The less you have invested in the hobby, the more reasonable a stance that is. So not everyone is looking out for the best interests of the community itself, but I certainly don't fault those who are.

Shiney has some major hate for bark river that's obvious. For anyone that's reading this thread and looking up all the negative things about mike Stewart and bark river you should also search the good things that people say about him as a person and bark river as a company. I think everyone knows how easy it is to get a bad name and get bad publicity and how out of line one angry person can get and blow shit way out of context to the point where people start talking about it the story has completely changed but that's true for anything. What I would like to know is if there is any proof of him doing anything illegal or immoral or is he just an asshole when someone pisses his off because the two are a huge difference. I've read a lot of bad things about him and bark river but I have seen nothing that actually PROVES anything that has been said.

I agree the Aurora LT in 3V should be a great all rounder.

The handle should be great. I have a mini-aurora in 3V as an edc and day hike knife and it is quite comfortable in the hand.

according to Mike Steward the Canadian special is the best...for him. Buy the one that looks cool and has the steel and grind you like! There is no Best, cause they are all excellent fit and finish with top notch craftsmanship and heat treats.

I personally like the Gunny in 3v and the fox river Lt. Cause thats the size fixed blade I like to carry.

I'm sure this guy jumps in on any thread having to do w barkriver and says these things. Boredom probably has something to do w it too. I'm guessing that this isn't the only company that is getting negative things said about them. Like I said I am new here so I don't want to piss anyone off but is there somewhere on the forums that we can just talk about the knives instead of all this other crap ?

It always helps to be informed before you start accusing people of stuff.
