Anybody got one? Any thought on it?

I'm assuming it's gotta be as good a dagger that's available...

Can't really go wrong with a Barkie :) I've been eyeballing those for a while. Unfortunately I don't think I can legally carry one here. I also think the design lends itself to being paired with a larger blade for woods bumming. I don't think it would perform too well during batoning. I haven't seen a review of them yet so if you end up getting one please post your thoughts!

I was looking at one on-line today. I'm partial to daggers so I was impressed.

For me it would be restricted to being a collector, legal to own here, but hard to convince a LEO that it is a handy tool if caught carrying.

No doubt with the LEO.

I just got into quality knives last year and it seems a solid dagger is hard to come by. When I saw Bark River with one, it gave my internal martial arts self a smile. I would just have one for practice and very little carry.

Have a look at the Fallkniven G1 Garm Fighter. Small, but solid. I suspect a Bark River Mtn. Man will find it's way into my collection sooner or later.

Yeah I look at that once and awhile too. Have you used it for some cutting chores? How does it stand up? Classic looking boot knife, no? Bark River and Fallkniven...they gotta be good!

I think I do like the size of the...stopped mid thought b/c I like knives of all sizes! Hah!

They are around the same price, no? Lord, I need to stop buying at some point!!!

No, have never sliced with them, with the exception of my finger once (razor bloody sharp out of the box) , mine are both collectors, as are all my daggers.

They are boot knife size (3.5" blade, 7.5" overall), the sheath also allows them to be used as a neck knife. I believe they are solid VG10 steel, not laminated VG10.

Very solid feel and nice balance. The only thing is the Ceracoat 8H coating may not be very robust. I saw a review on a coated A1 one time and the coating scratched off pretty easily.

I think the blade may start looking battle ravaged pretty quickly with actual use.

My understanding is that the MMD by Bark River has a 5" blade. I'll know in a couple of days, since I won one this morning. I'll let you know.

x2 congrats on your good fortune :thumbup:

Let us know what you think of it once you've had a chance to handle it.

What handle did you get?

There were 7 different handles in the drawing. I don't know which I'll get but none were ugly as far as I could tell. Looks like some were micarta, some treated burl of some kind. I'll definitely post pics and a review when it gets here. Not sure how to test it for its intended purpose without harming any neighbors (or, at the very least, their pets!). Guess I could hang a beef quarter out in the yard and have at it but the neighbors would probably call the law for that as well. They know how I feel about the ex and she does seriously resemble a half of beef. :D Might be best to just do some air slicing and give some general impressions.

LMFAO

I probably shouldn't find that funny, but it gave me a good morning chuckle to start my day. Thanks for that.

Thank you for that. God'll forgive me if someone gets a laugh out of it!:)

Did you get it yet??:D

Congrats again...I forgot I entered that contest too...no blade for me! :thumbdn:;)

I'm still in anxious anticipation. I broke out my little European Community Cutlery pearl handled stabber and cheapo Sykes-Fairbairn copy to play with til it gets here. Unfortunately, I sold my Irie custom with stag a few years ago.
