Bark River.....

I'm guessing it's, top to bottom: Aurora, Sandstorm?, Bravo-1, Wet Enviro, Fox River, Northstar, and Highland (in carbon fiber  )

Good guess!!!
The one on the top is a Nebula which is very similar to the Aurora, but you got the rest of them right:thumbup:.
The Nebula is 12c27 steel & the Aurora is A2.
The Aurora has a bit less of a bottom guard.
otherwise they're pretty much the same knife.
I didn't really care for the Highland when I first got it,but the more I use it the more I like it.

I ain't got me no Barkies, but I want one really bad. I'll eventually get one after the expense of Christmas has passed. The one I want is the Rogue. That knife just makes my eyes light up and the new models look like they may be a tiny bit more refined than the earlier models? Not sure if that is the correct way to say it though. The design looks like it would make a terrific camp knife. I even like the sheath from the pics I seen of it as it also has a different look than what I've seen in the past.

Yep, I ain't got a Barkie at the moment, but I know how to rectify that;):D.........and will!

I can't remember which model it was that I really liked.. I found it on DLT trading, but now I can't get their site to load....

Their server is done temporarily. Lemme know which one you like, there are much to choose from... and before you know it, you will have 17 or so barkies too!

are all BR knives convex edged? no conventional V grind?
would like to use a stone to sharpen them, no idea 'bout convex.

Maxx

You can maintain a convex edge on a stone.

You just use very light pressure and feather you stroke.

Once you understand that edge you will never go back and you will be spending a lot of time convexing all of your other knives.

Jim

hmmmm seems interesting,
so...will try one for sure, ebaying for BR sometimes...hope i become lucky!

I tried to find the one I liked on other sites but couldn't find it. Hopefully their site is back up soon

No. A very few are v-grind, especially some of their customs. If I remember correctly, they have at least one Scandi grind (don;t hold me to this one). Oh, and they have one or more hollow-ground convex blades!

It sounds like you're interested in Barkies (Smart Man!!). Were I you, I wouldn;t fret the convex edge sharpening process. Once you get cooking, it's not only cheaper (supply-wise) than conventional diamonds and dust, but the process is just as easy. Additionally, for me anyway, it's more therapeutic! For a tight-wound ultra-right conservative like me, that's a plus!

Most Barkies are Convex ground to edge. A few older models are hollow-ground with a convex edge, and one model is Scandi ground with a convex edge.

ALL Barkies have a convex edge!

Convex edges are actually amazingly easy to keep sharp, and with minimal supplies. Check here and here for detailed intructions. Honest, it works!

.......

ALL Barkies have a convex edge!

(Heavy on the British accent and air of indignance :D) I loathe to argue with one of my favorite Forumites, hence I must kneel and beg to differ. BRKT's Custom Small Hunter, for one, is a v-grind (which, according to DLT, Mike will regrind to convex upon customer request). The Copperhead, while not custom, is another such v-grinded bladeage.

Were their site not "down" for the moment, I would post a link or three at DLT to these anomalous v-grind Barkies! ((( :D )))

Stretch, are you talking about the grind or edge? I know they've made some hollow and flat ground knives but I too believe they all have the edge convexed. Not the whole blade, true, but just the edge bevel (a misnomer in this case) is convexed.

Phil

The edge, Phatch. Bark River is, of course, synonymous with convex primary grinds and convex edges, with a few hollow primary grinds with convex edges. The Copperhead is a hollow grind (primary) with a v-grind edge. Also, I have seen (I think) 2 Customs with a v-grind. One for sure is the Custom Small Hunter that DLT is selling (one knife, it may be gone now, but it's been for sale for more than 6 mos). I know that particular Custom was a v-grind because I wrote to DLT to get the specs on it, and they replied saying Mike would convex, no charge, if the customer wanted it. If I remember right, you can even see the edge grind in the photo (although I admit I missed that until DLT replied to me - then I looked again).

Okay, you may have me on the Custom Hunters  but looking at my Copperhead, which is still minty fresh (and one of my few Barkies that is!), the edge is clearly convex! It's hollow-ground, recurved, and convexed edged! Honest! If it's supposed to be a v-grind, someone did a real sloppy job and convexed the darn thing! :)

What a pain that DLT is down! KSF too! Speaking of which, did you hear that Derrick has a bunch of Kenyans at his place having a goat bar-b-que right now? :D:D:D

Ok Grampa, you may have me on the Copperhead. I went to the Bark River Society site (http://www.barkriverknives.com/home.html) and it sure appeared that the edge was a v-grind. I looked at several of the pictures, and each blade was a little fuzzy but evidence of v-grind abounded. HOWEVER, if you have one, then I'll cede the point.

I assure you the Custom Small Hunter is a V-grind, though. I'm hanging on to that one!!!!
