Bark River.....

The sad thingabout the Kenyans and the goat-cue, is that THEY are probably slicing their cabrito with some finely tuned Bark River Knives! And here we sit, on Christmas Eve, without even a picture to still our souls!

I was looking for a small woods-walker sort of fixed blade. I have a Buck 119, 192, and 102 which I like - but, I had to keep getting smaller. I saw the Bayley knife Grylls used on 'Man vs Wild' - liked it - until I found it's cost. Then, someone suggested B R. I found the 'Huntsman' and the Benchmade Activator+ to be available - and my 'Christmas presents' were found. The BM came in yesterday, the BR was today's goodie.

Well, to be honest - everything I mentioned will/has worked... but the two new ones may prove more ideal. The BM is no slouch - actually feels pretty good. That Barks River knife is alluring - super build quality. Smaller, in blade length and overall size (3.125"/7" vs 3.63"/8.13"), it's also thicker (.187" vs .140") than the BM. It's A2, while the BM is D2 steel. I like the B R's black Micarta better than the Winewood, as well. The BM is a keeper, too... but the B R is a seed that is germinating... my 'collection' will shortly double - I just can't decide which one will be next. They are infectious - and, did I mention, SHARP! You won't own 'one' - okay, I won't!

Merry Christmas!

The "Lays" of the knife world, as it were. :D

I have a pile of them, and any knife I think about using has a convex edge on it now. Wonderful knives, and wonderful people making/supporting them. You won't go wrong.
