Barker 4.5" Recurve

Since it's sold now I won't feel bad about hijacking the thread...I'll start a separate one if I don't get too many responses here.

I'm trying to wrap my mind around how you make the 'belly' of the blade dip down without making the topline of the main bevel dip down also. (Not sure this is clear). It's obviously hollowground and you can't buy a "magic wheel" that slowly increases in diameter. Only thing I can come up with is you hollowgrind with a wheel/platen to make the topline of the bevel the way you want...then go back and flatgrind, per say, from the thinnest part of the blade straight down to the edge.

(That will either make complete sense or be utterly confusing...and I may have used some vocabulary wrong, please correct if I used wrong.)

You have to feel the blade my man and have a magic wheel.:D

Man I LOVE that knife. Recurves are awesome and that is one of the best looking ones I've seen! As others have said... Santa robbed me or this would be mine!!! :D

John,
Do you work in other steels besides 154CM? I was just thinking how unbelievable that knife would be in S30V, or VG-10, or even a carbon steel like D2...

I think you just created your Signature piece!! WOW!!!

Very nice indeed. you said in thread you might do more of these. i would be interested in a duplicate some time after first of year. email me when you will have available please. Thanks.

Man that is incredible. That is also a great background for the natural micarta.
I am just starting out knifemaking and am having a heck of a time with grindlines and plunge cuts etc. My guess for how to get the recurve with the straight grind line would be to make the knife as a non recurve with both the edge and grind lines straight and then take the
metal of the edge to make the recurve?
