Barlow Challenge

The month is almost over. Somehow, I don't think this is over yet... The Barlow has become a companion and there is nothing that I have found lacking in my little knife. Sure, natural hands would be nice, but that is just a cosmetic issue. The sheepsfoot has a fine edge, and the pen has a nice toothy feel. The blades have turned straight black over the past few weeks, and the bolsters are getting a nice wear to them as well. The knife and times of a theologian might go on for a while longer; maybe another month...

Just from the title I have to say my Barlow Challenge is actually finding a Barlow. Haha

I've been frequenting flea markets looking for Imperials and the like, but all I keep finding is Barlows with the main blade missing/broke, or they are rusted and beat up so bad that to fix them is pointless. Lol Anyway, that's my challenge.

I know this isn't in keeping with the thread idea, I just thought I'd post up something. I like this thread.

I have been swapping out Barlows this weekend Friday Remington , Saturday Saber and Sunday was a Cutco.

Monday and Today a Rite Edge Barlow that I took out to the Ag shop and used a table top belt sander to round off the sharp edges , took it home and finished it with sand paper to a smooth finish.

Ben I have looked and looked at that Barlow with sheepfoot blade and large bolsters and have become obsessed with how it looks. I am getting off of here now and try track one down to buy.

I might just keep a Barlow in my pocket for a while. They all have handled every cutting task I tried with them.
I got to keep my eye out for a sheep foot bladed one.

I mentioned it to my grandma and she said that I could have the Barlow that's in her toolbox which never gets used.
I hope it doesn't turn out to be a cheapo, or at least decent fit and finish of its made in China or Japan.

I just google " maroon handles Barlow " and the first result that came up was an imperial model 278 which looks exactly like what I remember seeing. So I really hope it turns out to be an imperial 278.
