Barlow's anyone?

Nice looking Barlow.Taylors sell well over here.Working mans knife through and through.Quality is on par with Old Timers and price is about the same to.(Over here anyway)I've had about three in plain carbon and cv.Carried a small single blade for about five years when I was a boy(until I lost it)held an edge well.A good add to your collection. Regards Joe.

I have long been a fan of Barlow's and have brought them up here a few times before.

They seem to be a pattern a lot of people like but not too many are huge fans of.

I have several in my collection but the one I carry the most is the aforementioned S&M Series XIII jigged bone. Walk and talk are exceptional as well as the fit and finish.

Here's an old one I just sold on eBay that was a great specimen and had the best W&T I have ever seen in a slipjoint. I would have kept it but the main blade was a little impractical for carry.

I received my S&M, and it's a very nicely made knife. Just as a comparison between the S&M and the Russell, I would give a few more points for fit & finish to the S&M. I think the half-stop on the blades is a nice touch on slipjoints. The Russell does have it's good points also. I prefer the clip point blade on a Barlow. The stag is just a little nicer than the Winterbottom, but it's close I think the thing I much prefer on the Russell is that the back of the blade when folded is less pronounced on the Russell. I wouldn't call this tang sticking up as a design flaw on a slipjoint, but I do prefer that it not stick up.

Here's what I mean, take a look.

For carrying I'd definately prefer the Russel, that tang sticking up would be just the thing to poke your hand every time you put your hand in your pocket, not to mention how many pockets it'd wear out. Of course most of us never carry our knives, except to show or trade them, and both are beautiful specimens. I prefer stag over winterbottom, but that's just my personal preference. Good thing all of don't like the same thing or it would be a dull world!!!!

Hey Phil,
Have you noticed that since you pointed out those Taylor Eye Witness Barlows over at World Knives they've since sold out??

Coinsidence??

I doubt it.....;)

I think the two blade was sold out when I first found it, but you're right now the single blade is sold out also. You can still order them from World Knives, however Smokey Mtt. wouldn't take orders on the Roy Rogers Barlow, they have no idea if or when they will ever be available again. :(

Phil,
I just might order one of those EyeWitness Barlows. They scales are what I find attractive.

As for the Roy Rogers Barlow......that's a damn shame because, like I mentioned before, they had them in their catalogue forever. It figures though 'cause that crap always seems to happen.

I guess it'll just have to be more money for the next one, huh?:D
