I purchased an Emerson super commander from barrabas74 on Feb 20. I was told it would ship the next day. I have sent messages via dm and email with no response. Edited response. Knife finally arrived today

Hopefully he’s not in a bad situation. If he ( or she ) isn’t in a hospital, or family member isn’t in a hospital, there’s not many excuses. A week without communication is LONG.

The GBU forum is probably the place to include the sellers name if no response from them is happening

Not trying to be rude here. There are multiple reasons someone could not respond - none of them are usually good though.

* EDIT - I actually feel kind of bad for what I wrote.

The two members posts after mine seem much more appropriate. If there is no response from seller after emailing them.. I would make use of this thread.

Good luck. Hopefully the seller is ok.

Buyer needs to hunt down the package and find out where it’s at. I recommend emailing them with the email you used to pay them. Some people only log in to sell something and then disappear for a while until they need to sell again, so who knows when they’ll see your PM.

Thanks ill email him as well.

I recently had a similar situation. They seller sent me a tracking number and then disappeared. It turned out the tracking number showed that it had been created but the package never received. Then radio silence for about a week. I finally used the email address on the paypal transaction and the seller reappeared and after a few more days of "just in case" time provided a refund. Hopefully it will work out that way for you.

I never buy F&F. When I see "F&F" I move on. When I buy, if the knife does not show up at - and absent a reasonable explaination, I get my money back. I have rarely had to do that (and never here), but if I get a bad feeling, I don't buy. I may have "misssed out" a time or two, but I really have too many knives as it is. There was that Bowie . . . .

I never did before until the recent tax changes. Really surprises this is happening coming from a user with great feedback

I hate to say it, but I’ve been asking for F/F or money orders lately. I only used goods & services until 01/01/2022. I understand people not wanting to use F/F - honestly, I don’t like it that much either. I don’t mind paying associated fees, it’s the 1099 that frustrates me.

Sorry OP if I’ve taken this thread off topic

I’ve kind of gotten into the habit of giving any buyer my email and cell number to give a little trust. Update them asap. A day or two without communication is pushing it to me, a week is too much. Hopefully the seller isn’t in harms way..

argyle1812 argyle1812 - hope it works out.

For me no replies at all aren’t a good sign. Even if he doesn’t log on here, the notifications go to email so he would see someone is trying to contact him. Of course, there are circumstances where someone couldn’t reply (health reasons etc) but for the most part those are few and far between. I think you did the right thing bringing it up here and letting it be know,so maybe for now, others would avoid him if he indeed does post a for sale. I’d also contact a mod and they can assist you.

Happens plenty with good feedback. People have good feedback until they scam, then get banned and they don't get noticed or remembered.

Using g&s is the safety net. Hope you get your money back.

Best part is looks like this is happening with another purchase I made yesterday from a different user. I may just stop purchasing on here. I thought this was a place with mostly good honest members but now I'm not sure.

It does seem odd that someone that has been an active member for so long with perfect FB, would go bad. But, I guess it has happened before.
He was on-line earlier this am, so seems he should have seen a PM.
Hopefully this will work out for you. If he doesn't respond soon, then that certainly makes things worse.

I don't know why the sudden fear of a 1099 is causing people to demand Friends and Family payments.

You have to be a very high-volume seller for this to affect you. I have a lot of additional income over and above my normal job and the standard deduction is still better than itemizing gains and losses.

Friends and Family payments are just too big of a gamble. You have no recourse at all...
