I don't think there is any structural issue with the carbon fiber sebenza's. If there was, I'm sure Mr. Reeve would not continue to produce them. In the case of this one, it was just too nice to use, and I didn't feel comfortable defiling this masterpiece! I have other damascus users - large raindrop, ladder & spirograph 21's - but the basketweave is on a whole different level. Also, I have a large Klotzli with carbon fiber scales about 1/3 the thickness of the Sebenza, and it is VERY rigid - no blade movement or deflection at all. This is some tuff stuff!
