Those Y's are tough to split. It's nice to see an axe put to real work not just used to split straight-grain alder that falls in half by itself.

Bushcraft tablewear 😁
That was good stuff, and nice looking axes.
Thanks DbH!

Thanks brother, love a good challenge. But I do love to split alder too hahaha probably just use a hatchet for that stuff.

I have been very tempted to get the 3Kg, got a quote from Lamnia the other day. Given the choice, would you get the larger 3Kg for splitting or stay with the 2.5Kg?

Thanks,
Slim

What?! They make a 3kg? Hell yeah I'd get that one haha.

Realisticly it just depends on your physical build and stamina.
You don't need the heaviest axe to split wood it's all about flipping the bit with the right timing to bust the wood apart "Tom Clark" style.

So it just depends haha, can't give you a straight answer but personally I want the heaviest axe possible for fun.

Let a buddy use my axe

Remember, friend don't let friends use there precision tools hahaha

Easy fix though

I was told by the maker, that any of these can be ordered though his distributor. All someone has to do is request the item.

Thats awesome might have to.do a custom :D

Here is my recent Basque axe, it's a 1.5kg straight bit. The non splitting axe Basque axes have a thinner geometry, but the straight bits have a little less check then the round bits.

You can see the size of this axe compared to the GB SFA.

Very similar.

Here you can see the all the "Biscaynne style" axes

Very cool.

With sheath

The hang

Wrapped eye, no poll

"Recta" or straight

I have not swung her yet so I am excited to try her out.

Here is a size comparison
1.5kg straight bit, 2.5kg splitting axe, 2.4 kg racing axe.

Here is a quick look at the some bucking swing by swing. There are some other initial notches from testing my other axes in the same size.

After I started the notch I just blasted it on the right sidewithout alternating sides to notch and it blew the other side off the wood. Good fun.

I split a log in half with the 2.5kg splitting axe

That 1.5 straight bit is screaming pine axe to me. Hanging it on a full size curved handle would be just bad @$$. I think. Ugauldi, sorry I spelled that wrong, had a picture of a Basque racing axe with the slip fit eye hung with wedge.

Actually a gentleman by the name of Surcel Ionel or "John" from Romania makes very, very beautiful handles by hand.

He is also one of few people that can purchase axe head direct from Urineta.

Might be better just to order from him then stead of Lamina to get what you want.

DeadboxHero...you just got me in trouble. He lives right in my neck of woods...and I don't have a Facebook account. My wife does. Guess who's going to get exposed, trying to get in touch with him :)?
