Hi All you Buck Nuts,

This last weekend I was out of town and was able to visit the Bass Pro Shop for the first time. All I can say is WOW:thumbup: . I live in the bay area of CA and we don't have any Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops here. So it was something special to behold. For all of you; like me who have only looked at the catalogs and said to yourself.....one day....I'd like to see that stuff in person.....it's just like the pictures.....WOW. The knife displays were nice and Buck was well represented. I could not let the moment pass without getting a new blade to ear mark this special occasion. I got a new Alpha 694 with stag and the gold Battling Buck's cut out.

That is one knice knife John!
I'd get one for use if they made it without the cutout. I hate to see Bucks fight. :(

BTW, where is the closest Bass Pro?

YEP, worth a trip...Bass Pro opened up in the old Stapleton area last year. It is a very nice store:thumbup:, very "up-town". The knife section is about the nicest that I've seen, good selection, great displays and knowledgeable salespersons.

GOOSE...what's LSMFT...I know years ago it was part of an ad for Lucky Strike...you that old:p  :p. Preston

Hi Marvin,

The BP store is just a short scooter trip to the other side of the Mojave Desert; 580 miles away. It's in sin city Las Vegas, NV at the Silverton casino. But, there is good news for us Goose!!!! Next year a Cabela's opens in Reno, NV:D .

Cool beans on the Reno store coming soon.
I'll be puttin' through Sin City sometime in Aug on my way back from Sturgeon. Maybe I can talk the posse into stopping at the Bass Pro Shop or Fatburger...tough choice. Never been to Fatburger...but heard they're good.
John, do you recall if they had similar scales on other Bucks?

Goose,
A friend of mine from work is going to Sturgeon this year. His wife will be following him in the family van with her friend. The back of the shirt he intends to wear reads..."If you can read this the b_ _ch fell off." His wife says she will have a sign on the back of the van that reads..."Gay rider just ahead." Ya gotta love it.
Mike

Thanks Goose, you be careful out there on the ride.:D  :D Preston

Goose,

They had a few Alpha's with stag handles, The folders and the 196 mini. I'm at work right now so I'll post a pic of the 196 later. Looks like the 694 without the blade cutout and a tad bit smaller:cool: . I hope you have a good trip out there and Hope it's not 113 when your in sin city. Thats to hot to enjoy the ride:D .

LOL Mike...that sign on the van is a hoot. Hope I don't end up in front of it on the road!!! They'd prob just think it's my fiancee on her scoot. She rides a HD too.
BTW, THREAD-JACK, figured a carry method for that fixed blade Strider-Combo-Tire-Iron... just got a new scoot last week...needed a bagger to carry it in.
As for hitting the Bass shop in Vegas, last night the fiancee and her brother were debating on the route home...I'm just going along. So maybe I'll have to wait for the Reno shop to open.
Hugs to ya Thugs...
Goose.

BTW, Preston, I'm 49 ;)

the bass pro we have here is a joke, never have anything in stock and terrible customer service, it's mickey mouse

I don't think that's old enough to remember "THE" original LSMFT....:D :p :D Preston
I have to agree with you Preston. My recollections of it go back to the early 50's when we would see an empty pack on the ground. The first person to see it would step on it and repeat the slogan supposedly for good luck. I don't smoke, but still, I haven't seen those things since.

When I was a Boy Scout in a troop sponsored by an Air Wing from US NAS Cubi Point we would get C-Rations "donated" by the Navy. This was when I was in the PI from 68-70.

Those boxes would have all the canned goodies, a small fold of TP, salt, pepper, matches, and a small pack of smokes.
It was a hoot.

The Scoutmasters "usually" confiscated the smokes. But, like in all organizations, the guy that handled the supplies first was the most popular. So, like a supply sergeant, the scouts helping the Troop Quartermaster got to sneak some smokes. I recall seeing LSMFT on the flip top of those small packs of Strikes. Some of those boxes were pretty old!!!
No one else seemed to like the Ham and Lima Beans, but I sure did.

To keep this "Buck related"...we used knives in scouts.

My closest Bass Pro is in Springfield, MO. Anytime I get in town I hit the catalog outlet. Never see any Bucks there - usually a Benchmade, tho.

Is the one mentioned earlier next door to a liquor store? Those are usually just local shops.

I haven't visited the American National wildlife museum on the lot - it's huge.

That suck's ratman,

The BP in Las Vegas is part of the renovation of the Silverton casino. It's got 165,000sf of show room. They were fully stocked on everything. It was impressive, full of life sized animal mounts all over the place (Elk, Moose, Bears, Lions, Deer, ECT.) There were two aquariums that were full of game fish. There was a simulated rock canon with a 40' waterfall and river. It was cool:cool:. Now there are two more shops I need to see; 1. Reno cabelas, 2. Idaho Buck plant:D

I'm getting ready to head to Myrtle Beach, I'll let you guys know how the Bass Pro is there:cool:

I used to see them all over my house in the 50's...My parents even sent me to the corner store to get them a couple packs when they ran out... :(

I can recall the commercials in the 50's, too...when they explained what LSMFT stood for... ;)

My dad was a ham radio buff (W2JNR) in the 40's/50's; we had a TV before anyone else on our block :D
