I'll be the one hand on deck to poopoo the batac
I think... personally.... that the batac's bulk doesn't aid in it's strength or chopping ability enough to call for it.
The batacse 2007 was as solid of a busse as I've ever held, very similar to the cghofsh... but I wouldn't really
want to chop with it. The edge is to short with that thick of a blade, with that big of a choil for me to be
comfortable using it for normal edc tasks. and as comfortable as the tac handles are, when you add up the
length from the start of the choil to skull crusher pommel: tac handles are HUGE. Like really massive.
to me, this knife doesn't excell at anything
now... if you knock off all that extra metal, you get something that would actually be interesting, something
compact that is equally as capable at batoning and chopping (as in not really capable of chopping.) okay, so
maybe not quite as good at batoning, but more than strong enough to take the tip hammering, and long enough
to do survival batoning.
or you can go the opposite direction and add a little of edge length. This gets you some straight edge length
to slice with, and some forward weight to chop with. You've got some options where the knife does alright at
a given task (such as batoning).
The batac isn't "all" handle, but it's more handle than blade. The blade is almost all belly, the
tip isn't acute at all, it's length isn't particularly conducive to batoning and it isn't heavy enough to chop with.
It reminds me a lot of the basic 7: great in concept, but so middle of the road in actual use that it can't hold up
to any of the knives around it.
so sayeth the poopoo'er :grumpy:
