BATAC thoughts

Those American Kami Blades are :eek:
I'll wait until Atlanta to receive my Busse Chisel Grind. :) :D

thank you for that site, those axe's are awesome. the badger is a nice do all.

I think a BATAC with a skeletonized or tapered tang to reduce weight would be absolutely phenomenal. The forward balance would help it chop better, and the wide blade would be great for digging and batoning and other camp chores.

Man, if I could find a skinny one in Bama Clay, I could pull those scales off, drill a couple holes, and make that sucker such a sweet hiking knife...

I really like CG BATACs, if they've got mag handles. And the fatties (SE's and LE's) feel like tanks.

Here's typical gear for a day in the woods -

A bit of an odd choice for a firearm for a typical day in the woods :p

This is mine (for one more day).

My thoughts:
-Feels very awkward at first, grows on you within 5 minutes. Terrific blade not much of a serious chopper. If I had the $$$ I'd keep it and get another knife to to fit the chopper role but as I don't, I decided to try out the ASH-1 CG. Its is a very nice mid size blade.

I love color combo more then any other.

I got my first BATAC a few months ago and not I've just traded for my third one late last week. It took me a little to get used to the handle, but its become one of my favorites. Glade I've got a CG, and a SE + the Tank Buster.

To cool. You sold that one??

Unfortunately, to fund a 2nd SE SAR4 which I like as well but a completely different knife. Will definately be picking up another BATAC when my funds are right! One of my fave's!

It was one of those days when there was nothing in season to hunt (besides any varmints you may come across), and on days like those, the toys just want to come out and play. :D

BATAC is one of my favorites that Jerry has made to date. Fits my hand perfect and the blade length is also perfect for most close up task. Simply just a great GP knife.

I'll be the one hand on deck to poopoo the batac :p

I think... personally.... that the batac's bulk doesn't aid in it's strength or chopping ability enough to call for it.
The batacse 2007 was as solid of a busse as I've ever held, very similar to the cghofsh... but I wouldn't really
want to chop with it. The edge is to short with that thick of a blade, with that big of a choil for me to be
comfortable using it for normal edc tasks. and as comfortable as the tac handles are, when you add up the
length from the start of the choil to skull crusher pommel: tac handles are HUGE. Like really massive.

to me, this knife doesn't excell at anything

now... if you knock off all that extra metal, you get something that would actually be interesting, something
compact that is equally as capable at batoning and chopping (as in not really capable of chopping.) okay, so
maybe not quite as good at batoning, but more than strong enough to take the tip hammering, and long enough
to do survival batoning.

or you can go the opposite direction and add a little of edge length. This gets you some straight edge length
to slice with, and some forward weight to chop with. You've got some options where the knife does alright at
a given task (such as batoning).

The batac isn't "all" handle, but it's more handle than blade. The blade is almost all belly, the
tip isn't acute at all, it's length isn't particularly conducive to batoning and it isn't heavy enough to chop with.
It reminds me a lot of the basic 7: great in concept, but so middle of the road in actual use that it can't hold up
to any of the knives around it.

so sayeth the poopoo'er :grumpy::p

Mine is perfect and excels at being a great all-round go to blade. It is also perfect for those who practice Apache knife styles. It's even more perfect since I stripped it and Garth put thin G10 slabs on it for me.

The BATAC is one of my favorite mid-size Busses:thumbup: Feels great in the hand, reasonably priced, and lots of color combos to choose from.
