BATAC thoughts

Those hand shaped handles look great - did you do them truly by hand, or use some machinery to assist you? I've thought about undertaking a similar project on my FSH but it would be my first attempt at such a mod, and a bit pricey of a knife to learn on...

I did these with a file and an orbital sander (which I am especially experienced with). They are then buffed out with the 3M stripping wheels in a 1/2" drill chuck.
I had it with doing them manually after stripping and polishing a HHFSH and ST Ripper by hand.

Personally, I love my BATAC. It's one of my two favorites. Here it is, with a kydex pocket sheath.

and here it is, being carried in that same sheath. The sheath came with a IWB loop, which I took off. I then turned the snap around so that the flat part is on the outside, and catches on the hem at the top of my pocket. It works really well.

Batac is aight... but the SAR5 gives you the same edge length (cutting power) in a shorter and lighter overall package.... and without the choil!!!

But there's no skull crusher! What do you do when you want to crush a skull and you have no skull crusher handy?:confused:

Great thread! BATAC is one of my favorite knives! The one pictured below has been my hiking companion for quite some time. Great all-arounder!
Now it will get some rest, because of that double cut TB - which has one major advantage for me over the batac. It's choiless :D
Choiless Batac - that would be awesome!~

I'm kinda ashamed of admitting this, but I have traded away my BATAC, I already miss it. But that got me an ASH-1 which I need a bit more.

Well I had enough $$$ to get me a BM, I'd keep the BATAC for sure. A GW, BATAC, BM is a perfect trio, for any job. But as I can only have 2 blades, I figured ASH-1 would be a perfect compromise between a BATAC and BM. And I was right, the ASH-1 CG is a monster, its as thick as 2 BATAC's so it will out chop some small hatchets out there.

Well at least I'm sure that my BATAC went into good hands. Thanks Armorer.

Pretty cool Knife. I traded into one, and like it more than I thought I would. Of course it helps, that it has a Horton Platinum Convex Edge on it. :D
