BATSON'S Thread

I would be interested in meeting a few of you guys while I am there. I am not familiar with the place at all, so I wont be able to recommend a meeting spot, but I will be wearing a LSU shirt. I am bald and got big ole ears. Cant miss me.

Ummmmm Tannehill isn't THAT far from Tuscaloosa, you might want to rethink that ugly ole shirt. :D

You won't be the only bald one there.... :)

Rooooolllll Tide Rolllllllllll

I don't think I'll be able to make it. Costs kept adding up, so I think I'll just buy some supplies and actually make some knives for a change.

Robert,
Too bad you cant make it. Roll tide whoooo? GO LSU! I look forward to meeting all the guys that make it.
Two more days and counting.

I had to back out this year. Too much work to do and not enough cash for the trip. I will be back next year for sure.

!@#$!@#$!@#$!@$!@#$F)(*&)(&*

Was politely informed that we have to work Friday and Saturday so we can have a long Easter weekend.  I don't care about a loooonnggg Easter weekend

I will not be attending, I may try to get up there to see some people on Saturday afternoon.

Well I have to sell knives. So I am doing a gun show instead. Maybe I have the luxury to go hang out next year.

Would I have to pay the registration fee just to walk in and look at what some of the dealers have one day?

Jim I believe its alot more than just hanging out, some of the best knife makers in the country will be there, I myself will make it a learning experience, I got a million questions to ask, can never know to much

Robert,

Saturday would be the best day to visit, especially in the afternoon. That is when they have a knife show, auction, etc., and it is open to the public. (no charge).

Hope you can make it.

I reckon I've been talked into it...I'll be there for Friday. Looking forward to my first "exposure."

I didn't mean it disrespectful. I know how valuable this hammer in is. I ask my "friends" on here if there was an opportunity to make money while I was there. I got no response. So I set up at gun show instead. Oh I know there is a lot to be learned. I Do my knives full time. So I have to go where the money is. This year my money is to tight for me to make it. Since my wife loves knives as much as I do. We couldn't afford the 65.00 a person and three night stay and travel expenses.

I know what you mean Jim, 65.00 a person is high. I hope you do good at your gun show tho, I wish you good luck!!! Maybe next year it wont be so high, I got lucky and worked about 30 hours overtime last week so we could go, Let us know how your gun show goes:),Charlie

Thank you Charlie. I never been to a bad gun show yet. Still making sales off my first show. Just got a commission for 3 knives from show I did three weeks ago. :)

I posted a note on our website, but just ran across this thread too. Due to scheduling conflicts on our end we won't be able to make it to Batson's this year. Really bummed out about this. We're going to miss seeing everyone there, and it's always one of our favorite hammer-ins to attend each year. We'll be at our usual tables at the Blade show at the end of May, so drop by if you get a chance!

:)

If any of you guys that are going to Batson's want to enter the cutting competition, and don't have a knife, I will be bringing a knife that you are welcomed to use. Its not the best knife in the world, but it has done its fair share of chopping.

If you have never been in a cutting contest, you need to try it at least once.

My hand-eye coordination is not what it once was, so I don't even try anymore.

If you think you want to give it a go, shoot me an email. (Edited to add: I have someone who wants to give it a try)

Robert
