Battle Saw Optimized

That battle saw is a beauty! I have a quick question about the teeth on top. Shouldn't they be facing the other way? It seems much more dangerous and more wasted energy to try and push cut with the saw end instead of pulling it back into your center of gravity. I think certain Japanese style saws utilize this). If there's a reason it's the other way please let me know (I've been trying to learn as much as I can about knives). Thanks in advance.

This should answer your question --- straight from the Head Hog's mouth

Damn Rob... nice collection! Any BM and anything with a big recurve will suit me!

BTW, Where are you camping? I'm in SoCal too, and I'm always looking for new ideas.

Thanks!

Never not impressed by edges you put on your blades. As others have said would like to see how it bites, if possible. I will never have my edges that polished unless buy right equipment so wondering if worth getting,,,,,,,, it is a WE you use yeah?

NMFBM, TTKZ and Battle Saw please sir!

Not optimized, WTF, no doubt!

My picks... Basic 8LE & SHE-2 please.

Great Job on the Battle Saw Rob!!!

Mirrored edge is best edge. Looks awesome. And I agree, a good mirrored edge seems to bite deeper and cut smoother than anything else I've tried.

I'm not sure what else goes into an "optimized edge" in this case, so.....still in for the results of the test though.

Sweet job Rob....love that edge man.

What system do you use to achieve these results?

Thanks guys! As many of you already know (this is for those who don't) I use the Wicked Edge and love it.

I'm waiting to get a little more feedback on what people want to see compared. Then once finalized I'll take pics and videos if possible this weekend.

I'll be camping in the Angeles Crest area . . . Looking forward to grilling some Rib Eye steaks and then some Corned Beef (Protein Overload)

Nice job Rob

Would love to see the BS go up against the CGFBM and NMFBM

Maybe I missed it? What is this knife "optimized" for?

Looks and sounds good all the way around!:D:thumbsup:

That's an awesome job! Looks great!!!!

Nice job Rob

Thanks gents! This knife is optimized in a few ways:

1. The edge angle has been made consistent from heel to tip

2. The edge has been finished to .5 micron, producing a mirror polished finish and thereby significantly reducing frictional forces

3. The edge has been reprofiled and is significantly thinner in the shoulders and is now a clean lean 19 degrees per side

4. It's optimized to cut better, chop better, carve better, and shine better ;) --- all the while still retaining enough thickness to remain durable and able to sustain heavy use without fear of "real" damage
