Bawanna is the man!

No problem Ndog, I'm glad I could put a name to the action you are using :D . I wonder if we could put in a little "guns and shooting" place in the cantina? I don't want to clog the kukri threads with gun talk... I know we have a lot of firearm owners on the forum.

LoL, no worry on my side GB. Maybe it is the fact of too many ignorant fanboys for both companies. And NO! I don't mean you, you have a much more realistic viewpoint that appears well considered before you decided you liked Glocks, I can tell by your reasoned response to my comments. I mean the "They are what cops buy so they have to be the best" folks who might be able to pick out a Glock when set beside 3 other polymer pistols.

I have nothing against the guns themselves except that I feel there are better options for me. The issue with accidental discharge while reholstering and while clearing a weapon is actually a pretty big issue and well documented for Glocks. Add to that the fact that with so many Glocks in use, the likely hood that a non-experienced person will choose one and well, I just feel that not having a safetly is more dangerous than having one and potentially forgetting to disengage it before firing. As you and I have agreed. A personal opinion and nothing more. Glad you like your Glocks and they work well for you. Just not my thing but thankfully there are many many options so everyone gets to have what they do feel is right for them.

As for a guns & shooting place. I think we can open threads in the Cantina here about those topics. We have had some in the past and they are always well represented. I think the last one was pictures of our collections for a friend from up North where they aren't allowed to own guns. (Not NYC, Canada) LOL.

I love how well we are all getting along.

Back in 2007, I did a ton of shooting. Went to an indoor range at least once a week. Shot most of the Semiauto pistols at the rental counter. XD's, Beretta, 1911's, H&K, SIG, Glock and so on. Full and Mid sized guns fit me fine, but the Sub compacts are a no go. Tried XD and Glock sub compacts in both 9mm and .40S&W. Sure the first shot was on target, but I couldn't keep the followup shots on target. Heck half the follow up shots wouldn't even be on the paper at 10 yards. :O Those guns twist in my hand something awful!

Rather liked the Glock 19 that they had. Not sure which generation it was, but which ever one, it fit my hand better then their G17 which was a different gen. Both worked, but the 19 was great. Rather liked the XD's. The H&K was really nice, it had thick grips which I liked, despite them being like sand paper. At first, that bothered me, then I got used to it. No complaints with the Beretta, shot straight and functioned well. Liked my Range buddies brothers CZ-75 .40S&W a bunch. The Range buddy had a Ruger P95 with wrap around grips, that was so comfortable. SIG P6/225 and 226 were great too.

I guess what I'm saying is, It's all good! Shoot and own what you want. Since I had free rentals for a year, I shot everything that I could and had a blast! Ended up with a 1911 and a SIG P6. Wish I could have kept the SIG, but school came first. If any of you Cantina friends are ever in Central Utah, let me know. I'll take you shooting. I don't have much, but we can still have fun.

Im really liking this thread and dontt want to hijack it or take anything from it but Gurkha Berserka had a great idea of making a catch all thread in the Cantina for general bs on firearms so I started one in the Cantina. Keep it here if OP dont mind and or continue dumping anything you want in the cantina here:

Main thing is keep it going!
Oh crap! My wife just found a TV show called "Wives with Knives". I think I better look into that. TV is bad:eek:

Afraid my education concerning modern guns is minimal, but those grips look fantastic!

Cant complain about 2in @ 50 yards. Some people pay a lot of money for that accuracy. I am a die hard fan of the 230 FMJ... the .45acp doesn't need hollow points and I prefer the reliability of round nose ammo. Who needs expansion when you are already starting with .452  ? I stick with 124gr Speer JHP out of my Berretta 92fs and 165gr Gold Dots out of my .40sw Glock 23.

Nice to know you worked over at Auto ordnance... I need one of those violin cased Thompson pistol for the back seat of my truck. Auto Ordnance has been putting out great products for awhile now. Are you still working for Glock? I am a pistol shooting nut, been doing NRA small bore, NRA large bore, IPSC style plates, pin shoots, ect since the age of 14. I have gone through about 500 rounds every weekend for 25 years, my Dillion 550 is still going strong!
Lol...wasn't working for Glock...but the (redacted) ministry of the interior is probably wondering where 40something thousand rounds of their 9mm went...
When i worked at AO the 1911's were sucha crapshoot that when i built mine I waited for a Caspian frame, then waited for a Caspian slide, rockwelled them, and then built the thing.still a little embarrassed that it says AO on the side.
Really wish I'd picked up one of the M1 carbines they were building from M2 parts, though. I think they were about $150.

Nothing to be embarrassed about lol. AO has some pretty good stuff. I had thought they bought frames for Essex awhile back but that could of been just a rumor. I guess some of the Essex frames are cast...yuck! The new Rock Island armory 1911's are the best buys in 1911's today.

Auto Ordnance is owned by Kahr now, along with Magnum Research and Thompson as well.

I have an MRI full size 1911 that is just a sweetheart right out of the box. Probably the most accurate 1911 I shoot.

Wenge wood with the Armor of God pin.

Funny, I've got a challenge coin that references the Whole Armor of God and has the exact same suit of armor.

That's what this is I think is a challenge coin. Cops pass them back and forth quite a bit.

I put one on each side so both sides can be seen. I have to go look when I come back to life, the picture indicate I have a little fine tuning to do.

The grain in Wenge wood makes it a bit challenging to work with but it's kind of pretty.

Awesome grips Bawanna! That Wenge makes some dang nice grips. I bet that looks great checkered too. Hope ya get off the mat soon Amigo.

Bawanna-you do nice work. Hope you're feelin' a little better.
GB-+1 on the Rock Islands-i have an officers size that runs really well (quite often the 3.5's are finicky), is pretty accurate, great trigger (and great customer service)-but it weighs as much empty as a G23 does with a full mag. Tends to cause a droop in the drawers, as it were.
I kinda enjoy its Filipino origins-given that a) they still issue the 1911 and b) i've done almost nothing but Filipino and Indo martial arts for the last 15 years or so-funny that the guys that pointed out the need for the .45 are the guys making it now.
Mine wears a pair of 3/32" thick stippled aluminum grips in black cerakote-as flat as they get without welding up the frame sides and grip screw holes and just stippling the frame (which is not a bad idea...)
