"BBC" Bergisches Beer Canoe knives?

I don't know what that means either but it might mean that the bolster(s) aren't mounted properly. The front one in the picture looks to be offset from the liner and covers.

I see it now, on the top the bolsters appear to be a little taller than the scales.
I'm guessing it's the variation in the stag and keeping the integrity of the bolsters and design by not grinding them to mate up perfectly with the handle material.
I can live with that.

I spent some time in Germany so, I took the 'literal' translation to mean the brass liners the blades rest between are the issue. Looking at the picture, it looks like one of the pins is 2mm offset (bottle cap end) versus being 'inline' with the other pin on the other side of the knife.

It sure is a beautiful knife so, I bet the issue is pretty minor.

Did the checkout process tell you how it shipped? Generally, things I get from that part of the EU get to the USA in about a week. So, as long as you aren't deployed or away on travel, I'm hoping to see a mini-review in less than two weeks! :)
I'm in the states so there should be no delay.
The shipping details will probably be sent to me after the weekend.
And I'll post up a review here when I get it for sure for a nice appropriate thread bump.

Red Deer are a bit small relative to what I grew up with and have on my land. Without a lot of stag to work with and most of it being relatively small compared to what I see locally, add a bit of buffing and, getting a perfect fit on a production piece can be a bit challenging.

All that being said, it still looks mighty sharp and pretty to me!

The seller also threw in this coin on the purchase.
Grinding wheel I'm assuming?

Appears to be sold out, too bad because I really like the look of it.

These are available from a few places in Germany. I don't think I can post an outside link to a retail site but, if you google "beer canoe" you should turn up 3 or 4 with knives in the ~95 Euro range including VAT. Pay attention to shipping because some are 20~30 Euros with 10~15 Euros being more reasonable for a German postal system package.

I'm looking at this one personally which will be ~90 Euro landed from a retailer in Solingen. Their Stag is priced similarly. Since they don't normally stock these, a pre-inspection picture of your actual knife is a bit of a risk regarding Stag bark and similar cosmetics if you are particular (or picky). In my case with Bone, the uniformity should be very consistent so no surprises sight unseen. Of course, this is pretty standard with most normal knife purchases so, it might be worth it to you to save a few Euro/USD on a ~$100 knife, though this isn't Amazon or WalMart with hassle-free returns.

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out.

Any one have a link I'm really diggin that pattern especially in stag

Follow my link to the factory or search Google with "Bergisches Beer Canoe". You will find some Hartkopf versions in addition to Robert Klaas. Stag is most popular so, you should see many examples and several actually for sale.

Did a little head scratching at the PO today when I had to sign for this one.
Half way to my car it dawned on me that I ordered this one.
Getting old is tough.

I'll unbox it in a few and get back.

Excellent, I've been looking forward to hearing a review on these!

Those are some good looking knives that have been posted! Wish GEC would make one like it.

Unboxed and inspected.
Nice, but a little quirky.
A little light shining through the back spring, not too bad though, lined up pretty well.
Blade grind and edge angles look alright, pretty sharp out of the box but I'll put my own edge on in time.
Maybe a 6 pull on the blade? Pinchable for sure.
The bottle opener is 7ish.
Thing is that the opener can't be pinched so thumbnail only and it pushes the opener into the blade (see scratches) due to the close tolerances.
It's not a very thick knife so my guess there was some fiddling to get this model to work right due to the fact that it was designed to have a smaller blade at the other end, not the opener which is thicker.
When closing it will snap closed in the correct spot but if I walk it closed I need to pay attention because it hangs up on the rear brass liner under the bolster if not precisely directed into the frame.
Not a big deal, just need to be aware, and it's soft metal so again not a real problem, and probably due to the tight assembly with the bottle opener option again.
Nice lumpy stag though!
I like the different textures on both sides.

Overall a nice little knife with a bit of character.
I'm pretty happy with it but would have been a bit happier in the ninety dollar max range.
This was at GEC pricing but not at that quality level.
But they did throw in some treats!:)

They did a variation in a Copperhead pattern as well, with the opener on the same end as the blade; no idea on quality.
Thanks, Neal70
