BCCI Facebook Page...What's happening?

Well, that makes sense, but I think their "collecting" just allows them to display ads they think you might like.

I don't know of any info collection that's dangerous.
(Puts on professional hat for a moment)

Meta (who owns Facebook) has been caught so many times with various malicious activities the Facebook app on your phone was doing, like:

1. Remaining "on" when you'd closed out the app on your phone, and recording what other apps you were using
2. Tracking your physical location pretty much constantly and reporting it back to Meta
3. Using your phone's mic without approval to listen in on your conversations ("Honey? Weren't we just talking about getting a toaster? Suddenly all I see on Facebook and Instagram (Meta owns them also) is ads for toasters! WTH?")
4. Spying on your browser use on your phone
5. Capturing the contents of your phone/text directory

That's why a lot of folks refuse to use them. Incidentally, this is why there was all that kerfluffle about Tik-Tok. That app ALSO does all this nefarious stuff (and a lot more) but instead of sending all this data to Meta, they were sending it to China. Not trying to get political, just giving you the concrete details of what was going on. Oh, and almost forgot. Do you use Chrome? Oooof...I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

Anyway, FB, IG, Tik-Tok, and Chrome do all that, plus a whole bunch of other stuff. So, remember kids, if an app is free, it's because you are the product.

Yesterday, the new BCCI facebook page opened. The administrator is the new president of the BCCI. The page is called BCCI-New Buck Collectors Club. I posted on the old BCCI page and consider Tim the old president a friend. I also consider Dale the new president a friend. It really dissapoints me to see the turmoil and drama in the BCCI lately.
I don't know any of the bad blood or whatnot.......but I hope these fellas and whoever else is involved can move on from it and bury the hatchet for the clubs sake.....

Whats your fist name?
Last name?
Home phone number?
Address?
Political affiliation?
How many kids?
Have any guns?
What church do you go to?
What sports do you watch or attend?
What high school and college did you attend?
What's your birthday?
Do you prefer coffee or tea?
More G, PG, or R rated movies?
What car do you drive?
How many TVs in your house?

And many, many more...

And you're okay with someone knowing and selling this information or using this information to manipulate the messages you see on their service?

Seriously?

Ooohhhhhh....definitely don't tell folks how Instagram actually has a submenu that you can check where it lists what political affiliation it thinks you have based on your posting history, and uses that as a tool to show you other things that correspond with that political affilitation. Let's let folks think that all their posts aren't being collected, collated, and data mined just a little longer. Let the kids sleep, honey! It's Christmas!

Ok..........I'll check it out today.

Here's my two cents: the political divide in the U.S. has never been so great or so filled with rage.

I've learned to keep my mouth shut about politics (most of the time) and if I run into somebody who wants to argue about it I just change the subject.

Right now people are not into useful and polite discussion so that's just a waste of time.

I think both of the pages in question should just limit discussion to knives.

We can discuss politics on a thousand other pages.

And we are friends who are grown up and able to accept that other people may have a different life and strong and different opinions.

Someone can see life much differently than us for his own good reasons.
