The Facts:

As Nimrod has stated I backed out on a deal I made.

The only difference is on the dates – as the deal was struck on Feb 22 and I managed to get to a computer and post on March 1st I am backing out of the deal (you can see it on the original thread) :

So it was 7 days later. No big deal - but some difference just the same.

The reasons for backing out are irrelevant – the fact remains. I did the wrong thing.

Still, I hope non of you and especially not you Nimrod will have to face the circumstances I did.

I did not know Nimrod had another deal dependent on mine – had I known that I might have made a different decision.

Nimrod emails to me were VERY impolite and rude and I would have to say they were a key factor in me deciding to refuse going back on my decision to call off the trade.

I DO feel uneasy about this – I had nothing but good experience trading and buying stuff on the forum – and would like to maintain this reputation.

As much as I think no financial harm has been done – I am willing to buy the Emerson Nimrod had up for trade – to help him finance his next deal.

The price I will be willing to pay is the lowest I can get my hands on a NIB waved Commander from a dealer – and that is 140$.

I don’t NEED this specific knife – but I am willing to pay for making a mistake.

Unlike some of the other members- I do agree this thread has its place here. I made a deal go south and this deserves attention.

Thanks for all the friends and members who have stepped in to say they had good experience with me.

There you have it.
The man made a mistake and admitted it and is even willing to buy your knife.
He didnt make excuses or tell us his personal problems.
Unless you live in a vacuum you know what's going on in Israel with daily terrorist attacks. Unbelievable as it sounds coming from me, there are some things more important in life than knives.
Nimrod, he admits he was wrong and is offering to try and make it right, he also agrees you were right in posting this thread. Anybody can screw up, it's what you do afterwards that shows what you're made of. What do you say, cut him some slack?
 
Ken, you hit the bull's-eye; that is where I was coming from.

Gad Blilious, you demonstrate to me some character by coming here and admitting what you did and agreeing that this forum serves a function with posts like mine about you. In that vein, I apologize for my admittedly less than friendly email to you. I was disappointed and angry.

The best of all remedies would be for you to simply live up to the trade; I would like that and the fellow getting your knife would really like that.

Failing that, email me about the details of buying the Emerson and I will ship it to your designee as originally discussed. I will use those funds towards attempting to acquiring a sibling of your knife and maybe piecing everything back together. I will probably have to add some cash because $140 may or may not get me a new w/o box Busse Basic #7.

I'm still not happy about the way things panned out, but respect you more now than when I fired off my first email. Let me know.
 
It takes a big man/women to admit they are wrong Blilious and for that you have my respect.I hope things are better in your personal life.Ken
 
It is obvious from the way that this has so far turned out that Nimrod posting here will lead to a resolution of the problem he had. Along with informing people of a deal he felt had gone south it seems that an amicable solution will be worked out here.

Gadi, that post showed real class. No getting defensive, just admitting to making a mistake and offering to rectify it. You certainly have my respect.
 
Its true......the end of the world.....drag his name in the dirt and make sure no one wants to trade with him ever again....thats why this forum is here.............right????????

Tom, there was no dragging here.

Hopefully this will all lead to a resolution. Though I am apprehensive about sending the knife to an address other than the PayPal payor's address, I will work with Gadi to achieve a fair resolve.

Jake has received knives worth many thousands of dollars for me and kept them for months before I could pick them up. no worry here.

If we could make the original post disappear I would not have a problem.......however...its still there.....and from first appearance EVERYONE who sees it gets a very strong first impression. This REALLY needs to stop.
Or else this forum needs to be moderated a lot more closely!?!?

I want to second Tom here, and suggest that perhaps this topic needs a thread somewhere (if it doesn't have one already).
 
Gentlebeings, read the forum a little. You will soon see that just like every other forum for consumer complaints, many of the complaints are resolved immediately, and many were unreasonable in the first place. You are not the only ones who can see that. Everybody else can see that too -- or if someone somewhere can't see that, if someone somewhere only reads the first post of each thread and makes up his mind from that -- you don't want him for a customer. You don't have to worry about what he thinks.

What's more, you couldn't stop people you consider unreasonable from posting their opinions on the net if you tried -- nobody can. Here in TGB&U you get to see both sides of every story and you get to make up your own mind. The moderators are only here to moderate the discussion. We are not here to do your thinking for you, or to do anybody else's thinking for them.
 
Even I agree. There should be a way for a thread to give the ending equal billing with the beginning. Gadi and I have resolved the matter and that is all I was seeking. Unless the thinking is that it would cause undue attention to a substantially dead issue, I would be willing to start a new thread encaptioned Blilious/Nimrod resolved with my handle as the thread starter.

Gadi, email me with your wishes.
 
Nimrod to me it seems it would be better to go back and edit your first post to indicate that you and Gadi have resolved your difference of opinion. That way it stays all in one post.
