Ok. Its slow at work and all I have is a rather crappy scanner so I drew something up.

Its not along the RAT lines as there isn't much room for improvement. So I went in the opposite direction.

How about a Fin & Feather?

First, Sorry about the bad sketch. Took all of 30 seconds and the scanner only stores as PDF so I had to print screen, then paste, then edit, then...

Handle - 4" Orange Micarta
Blade - 1/8" flat ground with secondary bevel. 2.75" to 2.9" Uncoated but polished to at least P600 or ScotchBrite finish.

Thanks for the chance.

Chris

EDIT: CP. I got tied up so my post took me longer than 10 minutes to finish. I didn't see your post 'til I hit submit. I don't want to look like I was taking your idea and running with it. Just wanted to make that clear for everyone.

I'm for a RC-9 or RC-8. The handle should be identical to the RC-6 with a .25" thick full flat grind on a blade shaped generally like the RC-6.

While I'm aware of the popularity of the RTAK design, I would prefer to see the same handle design of the RC-6, but with a 10" blade. I find myself batoning and chopping all the time, and a larger blade can handle larger work, as well as wood reduction for tool making. That combined with a smaller knife (RC-3...4) with an axe and you have an unstoppable trio.

Spine Width: .25

Total Length: 9 5/8

Cutting Edge Length: 5.25

Blade Width: 1.25-1.50 <One of those two

Blade Shape: Drop point, flat grind

Micarta: Tan, Canvas

Coating: Black, O.D., or ACU

Sheath: Kydex, with MOLLE back

Other: I'd like the gymping to be finer, the lanyard hole a tiny bit bigger if
possible.

How about a RAT slicing or boning knife around 6" to 8" inches long 1/8" thick and a nice comfortable none knuckle dragging handle. I am really looking for a knife that would be perfect in the camp kitchen and in the field boning out your game. And if possible a little flex in the blade almost like a stiff fillet knife.

Heres my entry, a quick sketch:

What do you think? (sorry for the crappy cameraphone pic)

OAL: 12 inches
Cutting Edge Length: 6 3/4 inches
Blade Length: 7 inches
Blade Width (from the top of the spine to the belly): 1 1/2 inches
Maximum Thickness: 1/4 inches
Coated Recurve Saber Ground Blade
Removable Lined Micarta Scales w/ Rounded Pommel and Lanyard Hole

For a production model, they seem to have everything covered below a 7 inch blade. I would want something along the lines of:

Blade Length: 8 3/4" (Drop point blade)
Cutting edge: 8 1/4 "
Handle Length: 5 1/2" (Maybe 6" because of longer blade?) (Pointed pommel/rounded pommel with lanyard hole)
OA Length - 14 1/4"
Handle Material -Canvas Micarta
Flat/Saber grind (Prefer Flat)
Blade Width - 1.5 inches
Blade Thickness .25 in

For a picture reference - Look at a RC3/4/5/6 at picture it with a longer blade

If I missed anything let me know.
I would put up a drawing other than the fact that : I can't draw, I have no working scanner, and no digital camera.

I'm all for the 10-12'' choppers. I think it would be cool to use a different color scheme for the forum knife. I always liked the idea of tan canvas micarta scales and a brown powder coated blade.
