Here's my submission, revision 1.0 of the mckrob RC Scandi Bushcraft:

This is based on the RC-4 blank, with a 1/2" extension to handle, 3/16" removed from the blade tangential to choil, ground almost to handle, triangular RAT lanyard hole. Handle in Orange or Yellow G10.

I think it would have to be 3/16" thick for the scandi grind, but maybe 1/8" would suffice.

I think this maintains the "spirit" of of the Rat Cutlery design, with the handle and spine profile unchanged.

What do you think ?

I like the idea of a scandi ground knife. I've never used one and it would be something new for me. My other recommendation would be a knife with a wharncliff or sheepsfoot style blade. Somewhere around 8" OAL with a 3 1/2 to 3 3/4" blade and no choil.

I would like to see a bird and trout type knife. I'm not set up to draw it out, so here are some specs.

Blade
Thin blade with a "little" flex
Narrow profile
About 3"
Smooth finish

Handle
An RC-3 type handle

Oh, and a bottle opener, and a swizzle stick, and...:D

I know I can't draw straight lines, but I decided to give it a shot.

Specs.
Blade- 3 3/4 inches
Handle- 5 inches (from end of pommel up to base of blade)
Blade thickness- 6/16
Blade steel- 1095
Blade grind- scandi, but I wouldn't mind seeing a chisel grind
handle material- foliage green canvas micarta with blaze orange liners

Also phillips head screws in the handle, leave the logo, and add a jimped thumb rest for added control.

Well theres my two cents :D

First of all I'll have to say that I got really excited abou this prospect but after a few minutes I realized that the knives already released are great. My designs only varied by changing the choil and blade height as wells as a straight back. I based all my designs off of the RC4 because I find it has the best overall proportions.

In each of the picture a RC4 is shown to get a feel for the overall dimensions. I like the straight back and taller blade because most of my use for knives is with food prep and similiar tasks. Both of the attributes help keep the fingers from contacting the cutting surface.

The other two designs have the choils removed/shrunk. I like this because it gives more useable cutting edge. The one design looks a lot like the RC5 but I would like it to be the same thickness as the RC4.

I suck at drawing but my 'idea' would be pretty simple. I've recently been shown the extreme comfort and ease of use of a straight, but very round handle. A great RC would be the RC4 blade without a choil, and a straight and round handle running up to it. No curves viewed from the side, totally round with a slight taper towards the edge-side of the handle.

Well here is my favorite from all my drawings, a 3.5" wharnie with a 3" cutting edge. There aren't any affordeable whancliffs in the market and this would fill a huge gap.

Here's a closer shot.

Hope you like it, color doesn't really matter but the parts that are shaded black are coated.

No problem, great minds stink alike.

Question: why so short? Maybe I'm just accustomed to big game. . .?

Alright. I drew one up with a 4.25" skinner style blade but the sketch was light and the pic looked terrible. I had to do some creative outlining real quick.

I think you get the idea.

I threw on the RC-4S just for the fun of it. "S" being for Skinner.
