Bear Grylls bares all.

Has anyone been able to download this? It locks up on the first page everytime for me.

While searching for info on the Bear Grylls article, I found some facts about him.

It is a known fact that Bear Grylls once broke his back during a parachute accident while in the British Special Forces. Lesser known is the fact that he built a makeshift hospital in the wilderness and performed back surgery on himself using only a knife, a flint, and a water bottle.

In the wild, Bear Grylls eats all kinds of bugs and twigs for the protein. In civilization, he eats spare car parts for the iron.

Bear Grylls’ peculiar name is derived from two things: his favorite food, and the manner in which he likes to cook it.

When Bear Grylls got married, he was so excited that he forgot to bring his wife on the honeymoon — but he did remember to bring his knife, a flint, and a water bottle.

No matter what, I like Bear and think he is doing a good thing getting people interested in being outside.

Funny, as i'm typing this I am sitting in a computer chair, in my mothers basement, at the age of 30. :(;)

If by "good" you mean showing people how to get broken bones and dysentery in two easy steps, then yes.

I enjoy the show, but in a "Oh snap! he is not going to put that in his mou---DUDE HE JUST PUT IT IN HIS MOUTH" kind of way. Watching people abuse their bodies is good entertainment.

I do agree that it wouldnt be a good idea to chimney climb 100ft, or jump in qucik-mud. But I do think that his show gets people interested in outdoors and even has some good techniques one could use in a survival situation. And that is a good thing. Further, anyone who trys the dangerous stuff he does without proper training or skill will get broken bones, and I think most people understand that. Besides, a little raw scorpion never hurt anyone, right? And I personally love fresh squeezed water.

ONe thing that ticks me off is that he still calls it a flint. All the articles and before each show he calls it a flint.

Don't get your shorts in a bunch over him calling the sparky thing a FLINT. That's what it is called in the UK, Canada and probably many other parts of the world. The little sparky things that are used in Zippo lighters are still called flints. The Brits call a trash can a dust bin, and an elevator is a lift.;)

Here's the description from a company that makes them.....

Flints are made from sparking alloy of Cerium Mischmetal with Iron, Magnesium & other metals, are widely used in Flint Lighter, Outdoor Fire Starter, and Sparking Entertainment. We are specialized in Custom-Made shapes and forms of Sparking Flints for Fire Starter and Sparking Entertainment, our processing facilities can produce very complicated shapes of Flints according to Customer's blueprints.

Not only that, I just noticed that nick-nack is in OZ. What do they call things down there? Eh? (Oh, that's a Canada thing.) :D

O yes lets laugh at the Aussie kid... LOL
I call them lifts and dust bins. But there called ferro rods here. Guess theres nothing to worry about then.
I hear that you call the bumper on the car a fender. And you drive on the wrongside of the road. The right side isnt the right side you know. LOL

Well i cant be to hard on the guy, i still like watching his show. I must admitt, i have learned some stuff from him. If Man VS. Wild comes on Ill watch it everytime, even though its usually rerunds. If Survivor Man comes on, well its like waiting for the Superbowl to me. I look forward to both shows everyweek and i hope they keep making them. Its better than most other shows on T.V. Im just being honest. For the record. Les Stroud is the man, and i still like the bear also.

I must say though among all the bs - he seems to be a good survivalist.

I hear he has a new season coming out in Nov. I enjoy watching it but you cant take everything at face value.

Nah. A bumper's a bumper and a fender's a fender, an' that's dead set.

As for left bein' right, next thing you'll tell us a bluey is a readhead.

Bear Grylls "might" have been the real deal in some of his past exploits, but his show is pure entertainment. I'm not going to say he's a fake, but he's been proven a phoney on his show, so it wouldn't really be a stretch to find out his resume is fluffed up as well.

I was suprised in the article to see no mention of Les Stroud's Survivorman. I guess the comparison would not likely have been favorable. Stroud actually humping all his own camera gear and admitting when he had to abandon it for later retrieval or being extracted altogether. Strouds actions are much less exiting because There isnt anyone behind the camera to save him. I worry about people thinking that much of what they see Bear Grylls do on man vs. wild is usefull because to many people have no clue what portions of his show are resonable and which parts are complete fantasy. Example in one episode he is in some northern forest. (I dont remember where)He comes to a river. The temp is in the 40's and its late afternoon. with out spending any effort to look for a way down, or and a crossing he jumps off the cliff. (depth? Rocks?) , and swims to the other side. While clinging to the rocks looking up at the camera his life jacket is clearly visible under his jacket. in the next scene he already has a fire going and his clothes are DRY. I have heard alot about what Bear Grylls was. What he IS is an actor.
