Bear Grylls custom design.

I love the looks of that knife, but I love my 600 bux even more. Seriously, isn't he just gonna smash a rock on that anyways? A hi tech woodlore??

Like everyone else, the price is too high, or it is for my pocket book...ouch ! nice looking knife though :D

I did the math on a calculator and the total came out to be 698.15. And that is without shipping, which will be high since it is over seas. In my eyes there are better companies and knifemakers that can easily match or make a better knife for a lower cost.

I can only imagine that the "celebrity" status is why the price is so high.

Let me put it this way, I could get a Fallkniven A2, A1, F1, WM1 and U2 for that price and still have money left over for booze... lotsa' booze... :D

Yeah, but usually the "celebrity" is the one making the knife when they get this expensive. That price is ridiculous. You could easily get something that nice for a quarter or third the price.

Yeah, right...

Am I just being cynical, or does this look like "jumping on the bandwagon"? Ray Mears (who actually seems to know about bushcraft) has his own knife, so...

It does look a nice knife, but no way worth that sort of money even with powder steel (Fallkniven do it cheaper and nicer).

The handle looks like it could cause some hot-spots though; it has a few hard angles on there.

Maybe this is just sour grapes 'cos I can't afford one.

Rick.

Well the funny part is, up until now, I've only seen Bear use inexpensive knives. I'm not a big fan, Ray Mears, or Les Stroud show much more useful survival information than Bear does. But, he does drink water from elephant dung though.

I guess the celebrity status has a lot to do with it. I could probably put this my on my Cliper and say its Bear's favorite knife and sell it on ebay for some good money.

A bit off topic but I know you guys would like it....

He pisses me off for 3 reasons...

1.) he is -really- inexperienced and yet still thinks he can teach other people "survival skills". (examples; climbing a waterfall, jumping into a river for no reason, eating a dead zebra that he "found" lying around, trying to ride "wild" horses, surprised that he got diarrhea after drinking non boiled stream water... and the list goes on and on...)

2.) He drank Elephant poo :jerkit: ... and didn't bother to wash it off for hours of filming.

and,

3.) Thinks he's a great enough wilderness skills expert to sell a knife for $700.00

Well actually... there are probably twenty to thirty other reasons, but you guys get the point. :D

I know I don't need a $700 survival knife, and the way Bear treats knives, he doesn't need one either. He's proven time and time again that he can do.. whatever it is he does.. with cheap knives. It's not like that extra $550-600 you spend on a Bear Grylls knife is gonna help you baton it through a log.

All that aside, I'd feel a lot less intelligent if I was carrying around something with Bear Grylls on it. The show is great fun and all, but practically it is just silly. I keep hearing the word "survive" but I keep seeing risks that should not be taken if you plan on living long.

There aren't much info about this knife either, ie spine thickness either. This guy is the last guy who should be using a leather sheath. That thing is just gonna rot away on his belt. This knife cost as much as all the other ones he used in his show put together.

Has anyone seen him actually using this knife? Is him gonna start promoting this on his show?

I watch his show PURELY for entertainment. Like, eating a boiled sheep eye the other day, eating raw snake etc. But, i've been trying to ID his folder, is that a Gerber Stud Gator?

Yeah I have seen him use some type of Gerber Gator, and some type of diving knife before.

i really like the look of th sheath..

other then that i'd rather carry my H.I. BAS or SOG seal pup elite.

paying 350GBP is way outta my budget..

although i am curious as to how many of those knives have actually been sold....
