Ok, don't freak out lovers and haters. I have no desire to wait 4 years for a blade, but I do think the design is great. Does anyone know of a quality copy or blade that is very similar in style?

Martin knives out of Texas has one and they are awesome to deal with. Highest quality...both knives and folks...Jim

I have three of the RS6 ones and they are very good quality. haven't broke one yet and they all three keep a fine edge. I polished the black coating off them.

The Bear Grylls knife comes with a three day stay at the Holiday Inn of your choice.:D

Draw a stech and have one of our Knife Makers here builds you one. Or at the price they get for the BG knife, get two or three customs. Not a exact copy, but the general style is nothing unique. It won't do anything that any other decent knife will do.

Thanks a nice looking knife! What steel would you get it in if you were ordering one?

If it were me personally, my first choice would be ATS34, followed by S30V. I know some people will say that the less expensive stuff is just fine, but if I'm ordering a knifethat costs this much already, I'm willing to dish out the extra dough for what I want. Also, some survival people would argue that stainless won't strike a firesteel as good as carbon. That doesn't matter to me since I never use my knife as a striker. These are damn good steels and make for terrific blades on user knives.

One other thing; People may consider Bear Grylls a joke around here, and I agree that his knife is overpriced and way too talked up for what it really is, but that doesn't stop me from thinking that its actually a very appealing design. Truth be told I've considered at least picking up one of Martin's copies for a long time. The knife itself is very well designed, has really clean lines, and is super comfortable in the hand. If I had the extra cheese, I'd have one with an ATS34 blade and blue micarta handle (as close in color as they could get to that beautiful Crayola blue G10. I love that stuff).

What knife does he carry ??? I watched a marathon of his and saw the knife several times, but never a close up to make it out.

That's kinda what I expected. 440C is great steel for a knife of that size. I've never been a knife snob so if I was wanting one that looks like the BG knife I think that's where I'd place my money !

One last thing. I do wish that the Martin version had the same butt. I'd have to see if I could get them to fix that for me, for a small fee of course.

I only had a fleeting glimpse of the knife and I thought it was an SOG Northwest Ranger.
