There are three versions now. The newest is breathable. Version one and two work really well, but there is a slight condensation problem. I went out a couple weeks ago and the hammock underquilt thing I made up was a big fail...didn't work at all and it was getting cold (about 42). I had no intention of another night in the woods freezing my ass off, So I broke into my emergency bag and get one of my Version 1 emergency bivys. It's really big...you can pull it up around your head. I stood in it, then hopped in my cheap walmart sleeping bag I keep in my trunk, and pulled both up around me...then jumped in the hammock. IMMEDIATE difference! I was snug as a bug in a heatsheets emergency bivy in a sleeping bag in a hammock. Felt a little damp in the morning, but man, I was warm and slept GOOD.
Didn't look cheasy to me, you got out there and got it done.
Awesome stuff.

I have to agree that it was a good experience, it just feels weird watching me talk about it. The most important thing is that I found a few things that I would have liked to have and a couple of things I could leave out. I would not have been able to find this out if I wouldn't have done it. I also am going to get the emergency bag like you used. I had the blanket that I used for ground cover and it would be fine for covering someone who was wet or sitting but not for staying out all night!
