Beards

Retired in 2001 and promptly grew a beard just to see what it looked like. After three months or so told the wife that I had done that and was going to shave it off. She said something to the effect of "no way!" So if Dream Girl likes it the rest of the world will just have to live with it.

See my avatar. That's the only facial hair I have.

My beard lasted exactly one month, when I was 21.

Had to shave it off when I got hired full time by the F.D.

Haven't had one since.

I have had a "chin strap" for 8 years, I just started growing my full beard last week. No complaints from the wife and I can't help smiling every time I look in the mirror. I do feel more like a man.

How shocking to find here at bladeforums a collection of members who are afraid of sharp edges. My razor is the sharpest edge in the house. Why would I not cherish my ten minutes with it each morning, much less flee from it? As a knife enthusiast, I can not deny myself the pure pleasure of a sharp edge.

I can't quite fill out a full beard, but can carry off the goatee and mustache quite well. I alternate back and forth from clean-shaven to goatee/mustache.

I still remember having to shave my senior year beard off with a Trac II razor at 2 A.M. when I arrived at RTC Orlando for Navy boot camp. "Not fun" is a major understatement.

Everything's gone but the goatee and moustache. Got tired of it, and shaved it all off. I'm going to see how far my goatee goes, maybe as far as my chest.

Lol. You guys look like taliban. My Asian ethnicity effectively prevents me from growing anything remotely resembling a beard.

I had a sweet one going over Christmas. I don't think I got any pictures of it.

When I got back, I finally trimmed it. I don't shave it off (had it for the last 8 years?). The only time during that time I did not have the beard was when I got laid off. I shaved it off, the promptly became my own boss, and grew it back.

Well this is a manly thread, if there ever was one!

I have had a Van Dyke for pretty much last 12-13 years. It is a part of me, and I'd rather shave the hair of my head that the beard. Now I've added sideburns to the package and I like it even better.

A few years back I grew a Short Boxed Beard and the trimmed it down to Chin Curtain, and they were both awesome, but in the end they required too much grooming and maintenance.

My wife and kids have never seen me without a beard of some kind and they probably wouldn't even recognize me without a one :)

Funniest thing is that when my daughter was 1-2 years old, she was scared of all the men, who didn't have a beard. What I've found out, it's usually the other way around!

I had a wicked beard going...black, untrimmed and full. Totally organic. A combination of a caveman and a mujahid :D

Mrs. Polecat loved it. Women wanted to be with me and men wanted to be me. Then I went and shaved it off, because I wanted to look more presentable for a special occasion at work...that was 3 days ago.

I bitterly regretted it. I look 15 years old now with no authority whatsoever and I can't wait till it grows back again. Every time I walk past a mirror I feel like punching the metrosexual idiot that's staring at me.
