Bearings on Non- Flipper Knives

Nylatron and Teflon washers are way underrated. My Emersons have such a smooth hydraulic feeling once I clean them and they break in. I admit I can't flick them without some wrist action though.

At (almost) 48 years of age my "flicking" days are over. If I absolutely , possitively need it open fast, I'll just wave it 😀

I have a bunch of ball bearing flipper's, and personally I'd rather have phosphor bronze on everyone of them. Bearings dont make knife smoother in my experience only makes knife open and close a bit faster. All the while wearing small groves in the titanium scales and causing more wear on lockbar and stop pin due to increased impact speeds. My benchmade 943 opens smoother and likely just as fast as any of my bearing knives. The 943 is just one example that being my usual edc knife but I have plenty more PB knives that perform just as well. Bearings are just a gimmick to make a knife seem more advanced. Of course I could be wrong this is all just my opinion but if they want to impress me then they need to come out with a washer that is just as durable (or better yet more so) as the PB washers that fight friction better. Until then PB washers are state of the art in my book. What I would like to see more of is pivot bushings.
