Beater Photo Gallery

David Brown

Yep it is one of yours. It had one of your j hook type belt attachments on it, but I slapped a tek lok on it. Great sheath, I might get that good someday. I got that particular one from Papa Thud. It was the beginning of my initiation to Busse Madness.

Here is a pic I found of my Basic 5 and NO. The NO was sold since I didn't like the E-handles (thinking of buying another E, and breaking out the dremel tool, though), and the 5 seems to be pretty well known:p

Not a "Beater"...
I like to think of it as a "User". 5/16" A2 Original Mean Streets. Right, Left, and Top View. At least how it looked a few months ago, I have put a few more "Love Marks" on it now. :D

after soaking in salt water and given a light cleaning (no metal polish or similar, if you squint you can just make out the little black specs of rust ) :

more scrap fooling around :

after some more wood cutting, that is sap and debris on the blade :

Nothing except cosmetic damage to the SHBM, a little metal loss from sharpenings. The kydex sheath however has cracked in many places from exposure to the cold.

Bullhamster,
Basic members can only add pics if they have another site that hosts the photos on the web. The popular one now is www.imagestation.com My ISP offers me some free webspace with my account you may want to check to see if yours also does. Once the pic is uploaded to the other web pic hosting site, copy the URL of the pic and include it in your post surround it by
use the brackets, and no spaces and make sure the [/img] is behind the url.

Good luck.

Let me know if you have further questions. :D

Am not sure if this is what I was supposed to do, but it seems to work on my system---somebody let me know if it isn't right and I will delete it if need be.

I have been working on my Busse SH-E for a while now. Just tinkering, to see if I can get it where I want it and expect it to be. I have layed the edge back quite a bit on a belt sander. Not to worry as I would only take one or two passes then let it set for at least an hour. It never became anything over barely warm to the touch. Usually not even noticable. I then used my Edge Pro to get the edge uniform and smooth. Then I buffed it on a buffing wheel using a polishing paste. Again the edge only became slightly warm to the touch. The knife will now whittle very easily and will slice the thinnest of shavings. Fuzz sticks are simple to do as it will shave nice thin curly slices. I can't believe the difference. It will also just about scare the hair off my arm. I then "whacked" numerous dead branches from 1/4" to 3/4" and no damage to the blade at all. Cardboard is a breeze too. Slices right through with very little effort.

I also wrapped the handle with cord to better fit my hands. I also realized it helps absorb shock and sweat too. Now I'm beginning to really like this knife!

Next I'm going to do the BM-E that I just got!

I'm going to attempt to attach pictures but if I fail I will ask someone for help or maybe e-mail them to someone to post for me.

Well, I guess I can't post a pic but I will try to attach a link to a forum where they are. If anyone can post for me let me know.
