Beautifully hideous, or hideously beautiful?

I saw this knife on the A.G. Russell weekly special, and I'm sorely tempted to buy it.

Just look at it. It has all the features I normally hate in a knife, all crammed together in such a perfect mess that I can't resist it. Tanto, combo edge, horrible color. I'm telling you, this is just like when you see a girl that somehow teeters between being homely and hot-looking. You know the kind I'm talking about. I've gotta dig up $80 somewhere.

I think you've had a few too many beers. Go ahead and order this and, once you've got it, we've got a thread kicking around here somewhere on the knives you own and like the least. Or, another idea, put it in bed with you and see how it looks the next morning!

Actually, I think the CRKT is hideously hideous. The Desert Cruiser folder is a good knife...very strong...feels great -- but it won't win any beauty contests.

I understand what you're talking about. I hate tanto blades, desert color, AUS-8 steel, and combo edge. But... something is kinda about it. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER KNIFE RIGHT NOW :grumpy:

Let me offer a few comments, having owned one of the M60 series for some time now.

The sheath is excellent. The handle does indeed look comfortable, and in many ways it is; but, if the thumb serrations are anything like the ones on the spearpoint version, they really do act as serrations, and you're in for a sore time unless you're wearing gloves. I've also found that my model is prone to more edge chipping than I find reasonable.

But you're quite right - the design does have some real draw.
