Beautifully hideous, or hideously beautiful?

I saw this knife on the A.G. Russell weekly special, and I'm sorely tempted to buy it.

Just look at it. It has all the features I normally hate in a knife, all crammed together in such a perfect mess that I can't resist it. Tanto, combo edge, horrible color. I'm telling you, this is just like when you see a girl that somehow teeters between being homely and hot-looking. You know the kind I'm talking about. I've gotta dig up $80 somewhere.

Good God! there isn't a single thing I like about that knife. Beadblast finish, Tanto blade, Combo edge, Big chunky handle. Waaaaaaay over priced for CRKT. I have nightmares about knives like that.

My advice is wait, SMKW will have it on sale for $29
in a few months.

I got my CRKT prowler for $15 that way. They were originally priced around $48 when they came out.

I read some place that knife saved some marine snipers lives in Iraq. What I remember, the power going to the light was 220 volts and the handle of the knife is very insulated, but the blade was melted. The knife's on display at CRKT. Patrickjames
I heard that story -- I think the knife in the story was actually the Gerber LMF II ASEK. This CRKT M60 is not insulated at all -- it has an exposed full tang. I have one, and guess what -- I LOVE IT! :foot: no wait -- i really do have other knives that are excellent -- it's just that, well, i got it for $45 at Sportsman's Warehouse, and i got the black one instead. Now when i say i love it, i mean for what it is. I hate recurve blades, and combo blades, and it's a little shorter than i would like -- but i'm not afraid to use it, it sharpens up nicely, resists corrosion (Ti-Ni coating), and the serrations work well on stuff like plastic! Plus I feel comfortable carrying it as a sd back-up. It got a decent review from Cliff -- I'll hunt for a link...http://www.physics.mun.ca/~sstamp/knives/m60_14nk.html

Torz,

that is hideous! My apologies to anyone who likes it...

yikes!

That dimpled handle is the part I like best about the knife. I don't think it's well suited for dirty or sand-ridden environments though. Perhaps if it was more like a slightly deeper-cut golfball exterior it would be easier to keep clean and retain its inherent grippiness.

The M60-14NK Tanto is BLACK with the molded Zytel® handle surfaced with a continuous dimple, like that of the knife and pistol grip surfaces from the late Rob Simonich, who they paid for the idea.
(Quote from AG Russell Website)

Keith Montgomery: I think you are right. Actually, I'm sort of relieved he wasn't involved in the design of the blade.

Well, you don't have to buy the gold version; there's also the black versions. The problem is, they're ugly too. Who said black is beautiful? Just ask for the M60-SOTFB (Some of The Fuggliest Blades). Ugggghh!

I really like the longer versions. I do wish they were'nt serrated. If I could only have one knife that would'nt be it but to add to a small collection it would be interesting. I would get the desert tan color I think.

Like the ugly mutt at the pound. You don't want to adpt it, but there's something that makes you keep looking in his cage.
