Becker Bk16 or Bk17??

Had a 16, sold it and bought a 17.

But now, thanks to all you loonies, I'm going to go order another 16 right now:D

I've been pondering this same question, trying to decide which to get to replace my 15 that is going full-time to kitchen duty.

Think I have to go with the 16, if for no other reason than I have no preference between drop point and clip point, and that the designer of both knives considered the 16 to be the masterpiece he worked on for 40 years.

Gonna order the BK16 as soon as funds permit.

Well, that just goes to show how long I've been gone... Murph, you're a mod now!

Douglass Thor, once I get my 16 in, I will be able to take any pictures you might want. Just ask.

Not here, just in the T.M. Hunt subforum. I don't consider myself a knifemaker so I went red instead of orange. Welcome back!

First time will be rough to do. However if you snap it closed and leave it for a couple days it will loosen up and be easier.

If that doesn't do it: wet it down, pull it with pliers, force it into place, and leave it snapped for a few days, re-wetting to keep it damp. Got mine to work over .060 (kydex) liners that way. By hand there's no way it was going to fit; now it's a cinch.

the BK16 is a very good bushcraft knife and the flat grind works really well on making feather sticks. hope it goes well

Thanks to all of you for your help and pictures and words of experience.

I have chosen the BK-16!

I ordered it from amazon yesterday and chose expedited shipping (lol) because i want it to get here faster.

Ill post some sexy pics of it once it arrives thursday or friday.

Woooooooooooooo my bk-16 has arrived! I am now officially a beckerhead!

The grind from the side looks good, but the grind on the right side( when looking at it from the top) near the tip is a bit off, giving the appearance that the tip is slightly bent to the right.
Should be ok to use though i think.

Too bad i can't go outside and do some cutting with it today, it's pouring rain. Typical haha
