I'm gonna say go with the 16. Here are some of the 16's in my collection:
I love those saber grind 16s...i want one..Dex needs to do a sabergrind 16 GAW the winner is the first person that has Budazz in their name. lol
but as far as recommendation.. it is personal preference...bk16 drop point (more slicey) or bk17 clip point (more stabby) sooo you have to ask yourself one question..do you feel stabby or slicey? huh punk? do ya?

My 16 arrived from Tomar's the other day. Wow. Really nice job on this knife. It is all it is cracked up to be for sure. Will make a perfect little brother to my Machax. Also I got some rosewood scales for both knives from tommythewho. I installed the scales and they are amazing, and also cleaned up the Machax (she is a user for sure, my go-to woods knife) a bit. The 16 is still stock (apart from the scales); the factory edge is a bit rough but is sharp and usable until I decide whether or not to convex it. As soon as I can get my camera to cooperate I will post some pics.

You mean vice versa, right? The 17 with its clip point being more stabby, and the 16 with drop point and FFG being more slicey.

I love my 16. I love it so much I bought a 2 and I'm thinking about a 24 or an 11. Dang these things multiply.

Thank you Ethan, and thank you for designing such great tools. I love this knife so far and have only had a change to use it a couple times. I have a feeling this thing will be with me forever! :thumbup:
