Becker bk5 fighter modifications

The BK-5 is already a fighter. It needs no further development.

Tanto-izing that already wicked point? Sorry guys but I think it's a silly notion.

thanks MyWifeThinksImCrazy for the info, emailed him last night and waiting on his response to see if he wants to take on my ideas on this project!!

Looks like he is a service provider here now.

His s/n is Albert Edmonds. Hit him up guys.he does great work.

Albert Edmonds emailed me back, thanks alot!! I am hoping to send out the blade and such by the end of the week if I make it back to town,,,, very excited!!

So, just a lil update and a few hints of things to come...Sent out my bk5 yesterday to get modded by our very own Albert Edmonds, looking at reprofiling to a tanto edge, half the top edge sharpened, some jimping on the choil and on the spine, and some mods to a pair of micarta grips...after the knife does return I will be having a custom sheath made probably by AzWelke (as I love the work I have recieved from him as well)... Stay tuned, more to come... Albert, when you read this thread I want you to know you are more then welcome to post updates and pics here as well so people see how you are transforming my knife into a work of art, and once again thanks for taking on my project!!

Since I put the micarta handle slabs on my old Camillus BK-5, it's changed the balance... for the better. It was already a quick and agile knife but the little bit of extra weight in the handle made it a new knife. Now it's VERY agile and very fast. And the micarta makes it grippier.

I grinded the handle and pommel myself, and did a leather and cordwrap with a turks head knot. Ill post pics if anyone is interrested

I, for one, am interested.

and, uh.....ALWAYS post pics - it's not even a question. Pics. Or. It. Didn't. Happen.

The point is good to go-the "hatchet point" (no, I don't know why they call it that either) is almost universal on HuDieDao from the 19th century, and those are seriously purpose-driven fighting knives:
When I modded my 5 the only "fighter" mods I did were slimmer grips to
Index the edge better and to remove the exposed tang at the butt

Two observations about the 5: it shines in reverse grip, and (try this) it doesn't reeeaally have to have a live back edge to do damage with that tip on a back cut

The funny thing is, its already a traditional tanto. What we believe to be a tanto is an americanized hybrid of a shinogi zukuri and a chokuto. I agree. The chisel point is not tactical. Its tacticool.
