The BK9 has been around for quite a while now, and as of yet I haven't heard a negative thing said about it, aside from whiners about the sheath or the handle scales. With Condor's new 2011 lineup, they have the Boomslang. Large, very clean looking bowie minus the guard. Has anyone tried out the Boomslang yet? How does it compare to the BK9?

The Boomslang is lively in the hand and nicely balanced. The grip is well formed micarta, and the blade is done in a full flat grind with a convex edge. Nice leather sheath, too! I don't have a BK9 to compare it to, but here are some shots of one of the ones I received.

Hells yeah! :D Like I said, though, even though it's got tons of chopping power to it, the blade tapers pretty strongly and the grind is nice and thin. The thick tang and thinner blade make the knife feel light and "alive" without losing its punch. :)

thanks for the pics 42. I,m assumung its at a good price? I love my rodan and nessie and am glad condor id expanding itd line.

A VERY good price for a knife its size. It's a little more expensive than some of their other offerings because of the micarta scales, but it's still a lot of knife for the money, just like everything else from Condor.

I love my Rodan, too, for the record. I'm surprised more people don't talk about it--it's my most used woods knife!

I usually find good prices at KnifeCenter. I would check their price first and then shop around. There is enough competition out there to help you find a low price.

I've got them for a little more than KnifeCenter, but I inspect all of mine. Out of the 3 I had originally ordered 1 had a burnt tip and another had an obtuse edge (which sold at steep discount as a Grade B). I've still got one left, though, that fully passed inspection. I know money talks, but so does not having to send your knife back to the manufacturer as soon as you take it out of the box. :p

I love Condor, and they're my favorite company, but their QC is still in need of some brushing up.

Was the edge black? If it just had a shine to it, that was just varnish.

No, it was blue/rainbow discoloration on the polished spine at the point. Same goes for a couple of the Thai Enep knives and one of the goloks. I already addressed them with Rick and should have the replacements in hand sometime this week. The edges on them were quite nice, but I think someone just held them to the belt a little too long! :p

Yes, though it's more noticeable on the Boomslang, at least in the examples I received. The Thai Enep Machete, however, is not tapered.

Yes--I prefer it to the knife, in fact! Hope yours is doing well for you!:thumbup:

I've done some testing on some like that that I saw once. It didn't throw off anything on the rockwell, and came off after some sharpening, and heavy use. I have a sneaky suspicion its just the final varnish.

How much does the Boomslang weigh (can't trust manufacturer specs!)... and the Thai Enep if anyone knows!
