Becker BK9 vs Condor Boomslang

Wow...that thing looks Awsome ! I'm going to SMKW some time the week of the 4th of July so I'll get to handle a few of these New Condors ! I can't wait !!! I hope the Edge on the new modles are "Sharp" My last 2 Condors (Nessie & Lg Basic Bushcrafter)were kinda dull from the factory:( a little time with the Sharpmaker & now they will both shave hair !

I would love to see them do their Golok with Micarta slabs also.
Condor seems to have pretty solid sheaths also, would you say that's an accurate assessment?
Particularly for the price, they appear to be quite well made, although I haven't handled one personally.
I like the Boomslang as well but hadn't heard enough about Condor to decide, thanks for the input.

For the most part they've thinned their edges quite nicely. In my first shipment I had a few pieces with obtuse edges, but the edges on the rest of them were stellar--hair shaving on most, and paper slicing at minimum on all of them.

I would love to see them do their Golok with Micarta slabs also.

Top notch sheaths. Great quality leather. :)

@Fourtytwoblades,

Any idea if the Condor kukri machete sheath would fit and work well on an Ontario Kukri ?
The ontario came with a pretty garbage sheath and I am looking to replace it.

Also you said you QC all the stuff you order in, how much higher is your price ?
I am looking at getting the Condor Golok and sheath, possible the Condor Kuk sheath depending on your answer to my question, and maybe the Boomslang as well.

Fill me in when ya get a chance.
Thanks

Quality of the sheaths is unreal for the price. You can actually turn it upside down & shake it a good bit & it does not come out. The sheath is as thick as the blade, which is 3/16". I LOVE mine.

Condor sheaths ARE top-notch and so are their blades. Looks like I'll be getting some more machete/choppers soon. (yes honey they're for trimming the trees)

I love my Rodan, but the sheath definitely does not fit like that one. I don't know if I got a dud or if that's normal.
Anyone that's thinking of buying a Condor should try one.

If the Boomslang came in second to a 250 dollar BRK Golok I would say that's pretty fantastic. BRK makes some amazing knives, and consider that the Boomslang is like 70 bucks ?

I will probably jimp the spine right above the choil, and possibly grind the hard angle of the spine as well, that will take the weight down a little but it should improve the pob and also make it a little easier carry.

Hey, where did you buy the custom sheath for your BK9, i like the look a lot better then the one that comes from the manufacturer, any details would help.

Jason

yeah i was asking you, i looked it up and the only thing that i could find that looked like yours was the dangle loop one, but yours has a bummed out part right above the handle for the thumb rest, do you know which one exactly is the one you have for the bk9.

thanks

jason

Yes it has the dangle loop. I highly reccomend that for squatting, bending & in/out of vehicles. I did not specifically ask for the thumb ramp-to help remove knife from sheath, but it sure works great. I am totally happy with the way they came out. I will be sending him more as family/budget allows. I could care less about looks. For me, it is, form follows function. It has to work great. My knives are all users. I also baton with them & generally beat the hell outta them. Be prepared to spend more than the knife cost for the sheaths. You get what you pay for. I paid for quality & options. I love options. Enough thread highjacking.

I still love both my BK9 & my Boomslang. Simply awesome.

I've got them for a little more than KnifeCenter, but I inspect all of mine. Out of the 3 I had originally ordered 1 had a burnt tip and another had an obtuse edge (which sold at steep discount as a Grade B). I've still got one left, though, that fully passed inspection. I know money talks, but so does not having to send your knife back to the manufacturer as soon as you take it out of the box. :p

I love Condor, and they're my favorite company, but their QC is still in need of some brushing up.

I'm going with Mr.42 as I loathe being disappointed when a new toy arrives.
The cost difference is minimal and being able to add his "special service" for a few bucks more is great.

I'll be ordering more as soon as the Christmas Visa pain is history.

So... Joe, 42B, or anybody else who knows, how does the Boomslang compare against the Barong (current favorite)? I know the blade is shorter and all, does the weight-forward blade design compensate for the shorter length effectively while chopping? *starting a new job soon and I have a powerful NEED TO KNOW :)*
