Becker BK9 vs Condor Boomslang

I've done some testing on some like that that I saw once. It didn't throw off anything on the rockwell, and came off after some sharpening, and heavy use. I have a sneaky suspicion its just the final varnish.

That's the thing--I know what a burnt tip looks like, and they were definitely burnt tips, and it was at the spine, not the edge. Dark purple-y blue fading to lighter blue, to brown. It was heat discoloration of steel. Granted it was only a tiny bit at the very tip, which few would be likely to notice if it was just polished off, but I felt it needed to be addressed. My order was manufactured right before Holy Week and didn't ship until after, so it was sort of like having stuff made on the ultimate Friday! :D

Don't get me wrong--I'd still trust my life on any of those examples, but when it comes to selling them to other folks that's when it bothers me. Rick said he was going to have a chat with the folks in El Salvador about it, and they received my returns more than a week ago so I'm sure it's been addressed. Like I said, the grinds and edges were the best I've seen from Condor so far! They just minorly burned the tips on a few, probably because of the extra time they're spending! :p

I finally was able to get that junk out of my nails today with a brush. Gah.

Hmmm, I think I need to look into this Condor brand. This stuff looks right up my alley, and they're cheap.

That's what makes them so near and dear to my heart. Fun and functional designs, tons of variety, great warranty, and easy on the wallet.

Those are some of the best pics I've seen of it so far. It's a beauty to be sure, and I'm glad Condor is cleaning up it's quality control a bit. I'm just a bit of a nazi when it comes to the final grinds. Has anyone done any tests with it so far yet? To see how it stacks up?

I came in second at a chopping contest with one, at PWYP. It had a prototype handle on it, but kicked ass. The thing that won was a bark river Golok, as we couldn't use anything over 11"

FortyTwoBlades--- do you have any first quality Boomslangs avail at this time ??? I am liking them a LOT. It seems to me, the ONLY thing that could make it better is about 3-5" of jimping to go along with the finger choil. I love the handle shape & material & size, love the blade size, shape, tip & thickness. Would also like a good pic of the sheath please. I may be placing an order soon. Thanks for your reply.

I picked one up at SMKW, thinned the grind out a bit and it's a scary mofo.

I've got one on the way--a replacement for one that got sent back--so providing that it passes inspection I should have one available in about 7-8 days. :)

I've had my eyes on this thing since I saw Joe talk about it at a trade show on youtube. Judging from the handle and shape, it looks like it would have amazing handling, almost like the speed bowie except more weight behind it. This thing reminds me of the ESEE Junglas but with perhaps even better ergonomics!

If they had one for less, say with like walnut or polypropylene handles I'd be all over it, for now I have to save up, lol..

I was going to get a BK9, but the Boomslang has a longer blade and better ergonomics(I wouldn't know first hand, just from the looks).

I have a boatload of blades, including a BK9. It is an AWESOME knife. Mine is scary sharp now. I like it so much I had a custom sheath made for it & a BK7 & Gerber Metolius. I am addicted to quality blades for a good price. The smaller Gerber can be used on either the BK9 (in multiple positions), the BK7, or by itself in any of 3 positions. I think i will have to have a custom one made for the Boomslang as well.
