Becker Field Bag Purchase Discussion Thread

Is the bag offered here the same price as what we can get from walkingfootgear ?

This is an excellent question. Would we get them sooner, with less wait time? What's the purpose of the sign-up, if we can just go to the site directly? Please let the masses-in-waiting know.

in theory, the supply line was short, so signing up to guarantee order and all that,

but if Karen is all caught up, and otherwise, then that's the way to go.

Ethan should probably check in on this; as this is his baby; i'm just helping mind the store as it were...

perhaps i'll update the links, and take the signup down/close it.

okay, i've changed the signup page to a purchase information page.

your best fastest chance is to talk Karen

first come first served i say - get in there!

From Karen's information:

Designed with versatility in mind, the Becker Field Bag is made from 500 denier nylon fabric, all nylon components, nylon webbing and binding. It features a padded, adjustable shoulder strap, padded gusset and two large padded pockets; one on the back of the bag for books or other items, and one inside to fit an Ipad or other small devices. This bag also includes a phone pocket with flap, expandible water bottle pocket, pen pocket, MOLLE adaptable webbing on back of bag, two zippered pockets, key chain loop and several other flat pockets inside the bag for calculator, pens etc. This bag is water-resistant and great for outdoor use and traveling due to its compact design and light weight. Designed by Ethan Becker and Walking Foot Gear, the Becker Field Bag is proudly made in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA.

Okay, I got mine ordered with walkingfootgear.

Bladite, thank you for all your efforts on this.

Looking forward to getting my Becker field bag. I've already started ordering Molle pouches to attach! :p

There aren't really many places to attach molle gear. Just FYI. This was made to be Anti-Tactical looking so it is a very nondescript bag. It holds an amazing amount though!

Contacted Karen this morning. Hoping to pick up a bag during our trip to Tennessee this Dec.

You're right: I was thinking of the strips on the back, but on further investigation, I see

1) in the Shot Show Youtube video, Ethan specifically states the idea for the strips on the rear of the bag is for someone who wants to wear the bag on a belt, and

2) the strips run vertically, not horizontally, so you're more limited in how you can use it; Derek installed a knife sheath (in his Becker Bag picture thread) so that the knife could hang horizontally.

The pouch I ordered is small enough that it can fit inside the bag as an organizer, something Ethan also suggested in the video.

It's all good.

I've got a 6x6 pouch that through the use of Molle Clips I was able to attach to the straps on the back. I keep my first aid kit in it. Sometimes I swap it out for a knife, the tweener sheaths fit on there pretty well!

You know, I want one but honestly I don't know what I would use it for?
I've got mine loaded up as a work bag that is geared towards an "Oh S(...)" Bag. so I have a small stove, a tarp, some paracord, my 9mm, 2 spare mags, a zippo, an Esee AH-1, a flashlight. That is my "Oh S(...)" gear. For my work gear I have 2 chargers, my licenses, my tablet, 3/4 pens, a spare battery for my phone, an Esee 3, my business cards, the agencies I work fors business cards, and some Halls.

no idea as to the Brand of the nylon. "cordura" being a brand name, iirc.

it's very good quality stuff. is softer than whatever Maxpedition uses, which is VERY LOUD, when it's cold...

sweeeeeet/ peektures when you have it stuffed

Beautiful bag, extremely well made from excellent materials, and I am happy to pay more for American made. Thank you Ethan, thank you Walking Foot Gear, and thank you BladeForums for taking the lead on providing the space to get the story out on this fine bag.

I buy a lot of bags for $30 from ... a company somewhere in southern California, apparently ... and they are good bags, too, but I really appreciate the thought that went into the design of the Becker Field Bag. It's good to have a great bag that my other bags can look up to! :)
