Not having the best of luck myself. Saturday, my brother and I installed a new hot water heater, as it had been going out for some time, and finally did, then, last night I got home, and the furnace wasn't working right. The parts to fix it were damn near as much as a new furnace, so, we bought a new one. Got it pretty much installed tonight, to discover the old exhaust pipe, went nowhere, aka back into the basement. Not good.

Fun stuff! We were lucky enough to need a new furnace this year too.

Nice haul on the lantern, BTW!

Thanks man. Live in an old house, that stuff's gonna happen sometime, fo sho. I figured out a fix to vent it today. Actually, the vent pipe going outside is there, it was the pipe that went from the furnace to the vent pipe that was rotten. Shouldn't be too bad to fix. I was just checking it out. Just a matter of going back to the store yet again for some vent pipe.

Tis the season! Glad to hear that the vent isn't going to be too bad of a fix though.
That's no kidding. Seems like stuff always breaks down right before Christmas, haha. I'm lucky to have a brother that can do anything. I'm not overly mechanically inclined, but my brother definitely got that gene. Nothing that guy can't do. Just seems to make sense to him. Although we pay him, he has saved us thousands. He never asks for money, we just give it to him. I'm also very lucky to have a cousin that just happens to work at a heating and air place. He saved me a ton of money too.

Ah, good deal!

Yea, our new furnace was installed on my Birthday a few weeks back. I told the Mrs we should just make that my Christmas as well. I don't need stuff, but It is so nice to have an appropriate size furnace and heat pump that can actually warm the house fairly efficiently. I'm glad we replaced it. Our old set-up led to some brutal energy bills in the winter. *shudder*

They come in threes. Keep your head on a swivel around the house in case one of your other appliances decides that it wants to make a rush for your wallet. We had the dishwasher (not replaced), furnace (replaced) and a new radiator for the truck.

Well crap, was waiting for my brother to call me, which he did, only to find out he's in ER with appendicitis.

Nice sunrise this morning on the way to the farm.

Clear visibility of both of Maui’s peaks, Kahoolawe in the middle, and Lanai on the right.

Wish I was fishing instead of working.

Have a happy holiday season and Merry Christmas Beckerheads!

Friday night, I picked up a shot glass sized rock in one truck tire. Fastest flat you ever heard, short of a blowout! I don't have a spare of the same size. The next morning the tire shop said it was "unrepairable". So, today my new replacement got delivered. I am going to try to patch the bad tire myself, I've patched a few in my time, and plugged more than I can count. I just need a 5th matching wheel now and a place for it as my spare, maybe under the bed, I'll have to find a rack for that though. o_O

Sure and begora, I've gone and kilt the schnark, poor little migrant.

The wife and I spotted an Amish farmers market today on our way to the Strasburg Railroad Museum. We picked up a nice double hickory smoked ham for Christmas. On the way out i spotted this Very old Amish Lady swinging a large wooden mallet. She was pounding designs into leather goods on an old huge stump. It's was about 37 degrees and raining pretty hard. She was set up under a small tin roofed pole barn. I asked her if she could (Bitte) embellish my belt for me. (Ja kann ich machen) Sehr Gut und Danke Frau
