the spike on the back is for moving small logs & firewood -- like a short pickaroon.

Very cool!!

I'm in the process of smashing on a no-name ball-peen hammer head (12oz?) I picked up a few weeks ago. Smashes MUCH easier than my rudder bearings...

I scored a Primus 8R stove off fleabay today, and got it for $62. I couldn't even believe I won the bid. A little rare, as most 8R stoves are made by Optimus, who later took over Primus. And as much as the wife and I go antiquing, I never see any camp stoves, or hiking stoves. Today was different. I already have one, but scored an Optimus 99 for $35. Both of these stoves routinely sell for $100 plus:

Nice haul. Those older stoves (like many other things made back then) are such great quality.

I miss the days when you could buy an item, and with proper care keep it going for many, many years.

Sadly, it seems most things nowadays only last a short while, then get tossed.

Except Beckers. They keep on ticking!

Thanks guys. I recently purchased an Optimus 111B for a c note. They go on fleabay for $250 plus. Been patient, and trying to find good deals. Stoves are like knives to me, in the addicting sense. Turning into a regular stovie.

I fired it up earlier.

Priming it:

Some shots in the light, then dark:
