Transitioning to remote-teaching. The semester will go on! So I'm full-time employed at home now. I live alone, have plenty of space. My only minor concern here is that my shop is 2mi away. If they impose a curfew I'll have to work on the motorcycle, reloading, other household things that are waaay overdue. Maybe *gasp* read books! But hopefully I can keep going to the shop. At the moment I feel suuuper lucky. But worried about my parents...

CT has designated liquor stores "essential services".

OMG, I started page 50!

I've been holding onto a small amount of inventory in the hopes of doing a local show or art fair... Now it looks like cluttering things up around here is silly. Might have to adjust that plan if nothing is likely to be scheduled until fall.

Sunshine and plenty of fresh air were often prescribed when I was young, for everything.

An essential job is relative to who's it is.

Getting excited about wuhan flu will wear off, like a new toy that soon proves boring.
~~
Watching new gun buyers stand in line makes me want to listen to good blues music.

do a FB virtual sale?
and if your shop had hammock tie-outs, a 3/4 bath, and a closet suitable for minor cooking (hotplate & a combo microwave/convection oven), you could live there -- no need to commute!

Ha!
I could cook on top of the forge - it's flat. :)
Worried about running out of propane. Getting a refill today - shd be low-contact. Tho heating season is almost over, and there's a HUGE bottle behind the shop that supplies my heat. If only.... Hmmmm. (if you hear a giant *boom* from the east, your Goldknifeworks resale values just went up)

The only place to pee inside the shop is outside the shop (or the dunk bucket o_O). No running water. Was imagining moving the tiny forge home for heat-treating (leave the anvil) and doing stock removal in the basement. I have most of the other tools for at least birudashi. Hell, I could heat-treat in the woodstove! :p Gotta get the other motorcycle out of there tho, it's totally in the way. Who knows, the house might be really tightened up in another month.

But in all seriousness, y'all be safe out/in there!
This is gonna look worse and worse as we discover how bad it already is. I'm very happy to be in the "country" right now, but I've got family and friends in nearby NYC, Boston, etc....

While I think response was slow to start everywhere, inside the Coast Guard the response has been excellent over the last two weeks from my odd point of view as a civilian in a little academic corner of the service. Top-notch leadership.

I've used everything from firewood to an 8# sledge as an impromptu anvil. (even the ball hitch on the back of my truck)
take the forge home and have some fun.

OTOH, I was pretty happy to hear about the correlation between blood type and partial resistance, since I'm O-, over 50, and asthmatic.

My step sons co-worker tested positive. Of course he was notified after he came home. We are officially on virus symptoms watch:( I will not be climbing Panther Mountain in the AM :(:(

No fun.
Why can't you go on your hike? It's not like anyone else will be there.
Heh.

prayers sent your way ... I hope you, your son, and whole family stay healthy!

The parks and outdoor areas are still open here ... but you wouldn't know it from the look of things. Hardly anyone out anywhere.

To quote Brian Phelps, "Can I have that?" :D It looks very clean for being marooned for so long, must be some quality metal, bronze per chance?
