Great photos. One would think you were obsessed with food....
I have to say, though, this photo really raised the hair on the back of my neck. Not only aiming a firearm at a real live person, but with the finger on the trigger!
Bad, bad stuff.
I will admit that this photo is a bit unsettling at first glance. However what is hard to see in the pic is Cap was actually checking out the Remora pistol bayonet that was on the gun. Being the owner of both of them and standing right there. (The one in the yellow shirt and plaid jacket) I ASSURE you the gun that was not loaded or even had a mag in it NEVER crossed the path of any living being. Everyone that showed up with firearms excercised the upmost safety and professionalism as they should, and Cap was no exception.

I got some pics that will end up somewhere sometime. I also managed to get away with a Tim Hunt knife, and I have to say it is pretty sweet. Not the one I originally set out to get, but I am damn happy with the one I got. Erik had a strange knife amongst his stuff that for some reason really got me excited, I kept running around with it and swinging it around, then Sunday morning, like the impeccable gentleman he is, he put the knife in my hands and told me it was mine. Some of the best people on the planet on that mountain.

Being my first gathering, I was surprised by everyone's hospitality, towards me being gustys brother in all lol. I learned a lot made some great friends. Next time I need to get together with Derek on food..

Parallax can do weird things. I think Cap's finger is down the side of the pistol and that it's aimed slightly right of D. Of course, who's really worried about D's nuts?

I clearly have some things to respond to here...but it will have to wait till I get back. BUT no the pistol was not aimed at Derek, it was an optical illusion that is more obvious in the shots before and after the one I posted...I just liked the illusion in that shot.

Thanks Murph. A photo shoot at the gathering...depending on who went about it...could easily be made to look like it was all about the knives (we definitely had plenty), all about preparedness, as there were several discussions on the subject and mindset at different times, all about food as food was definitely well taken care of, or all about a big camp out in the woods. I was going for actually capturing the spirit of the gathering as a whole. The camaraderie, the mutual respect, and the giving spirit were all as much (if not more) an important part of the gathering for me personally as the parts mentioned above. The gatherings always both impress me and restore my faith in humanity. I am continually amazed by the amount of trust, the wealth of knowledge that is not only present at the gatherings but freely shared to any who are interested, and the spirit of giving and sharing that exits there. Any poking fun I did at anyone was just that, poking fun. The behavior of everyone involved was exemplary, and could serve as an awesome model for how people shoot act and treat each other.
It was great finally meeting you too man, and getting to hang out and talk. Thanks man, I'm glad you liked it.
It was much more like what it really is. A meeting of great friends who talk a lot but only get to see each other in person on rare occasions. I think in order for there to be a lot of workshops the gathering would have to be a week long and fit the workshops somewhere in the middle. I brought tons of materials for a fire starting workshop, but was having so much fun talking and hanging out that I couldn't bring myself to stop that long enough to do a workshop on anything. Heck I didn't even take as many pics as I would have liked because I would get too caught up in conversation to notice some things that were going on.
